...backfired.

He was no Fleming to be sure, but not sure it's fair to single out Cannon considering how the rest of the line played tonight. Nobody distinguished himself with solid play and several crucial break downs at inopportune times including the big sack to end it.

What confuses me so much is that we're seeing this from a guy who in three years played nine reasonably uneventful games at right tackle where he either started or was an injury replacement very early in the game. This season, we've seen him struggle in a number of roles, whether that's guard, jumbo TE, or as a short-term sub at tackle. Is full-time RT the only thing he can do, or can he not even do that anymore and we just don't know it? Heck, he was getting LT snaps in place of Solder late in training camp.

I'm not sure Cannon can do much of anything. He's been a nice story and we were all pulling for him but simply put, he's not very good. I can't think of one game where I sat back and thought, geez, Cannon was good today.

I've never been overly high on Cannon. But I do think he's better suited at guard.

Cannon's a rotational RT in this league. Unfortunately, that seems to be all he is in this league.

Then again, the number of players who crapped the bed in this game is large, and Cannon is not the one who should have the biggest target on his back.

Well to be fair, it takes a truly exceptional game for an offensive lineman to get singled out for being good. It only takes a few plays to be singled out for being bad, and I feel like we're seeing more of that this season than in his 320 (excluding today) snaps than in the 916 snaps in his first three seasons combined.

Marcus Cannon is long gone come March anyway.

Cameron Fleming is the new, hopefully improved Marcus Cannon for the next few years.

Never did quite understand this thinking, especially after he looked horrible at guard early in the year when finally given an extended opportunity.

In my opinion, Cannon belongs at right tackle, and right tackle only--and even then, as Deus said---he's best used rotationally, and even then he has his limitations.

When you have injuries, other players are asked to step and do the job, but Cannon is not the guy to do the job.. he has underwhelmed me for a while now...

In fairness, that may be an excuse for him as well..

There's no excuse for taking a 5 yard penalty when the team is 1st and goal from the 1 yard line.

They're overcome his poor play for most of the season. Last night was not one of those times.

Cannon is what he is, a backup OT.

IMHO, Cannon has performed OK in his role as backup OT. Given the injury history of Vollmer and Solder, that role has been important. Cannon is not a very good 3rd (blocking) TE.

I must credit folks for their consistency. Poster have wanted to make Cannon a guard since he was drafted. He will leave in March, as he came, a backup OT.

after what this line accomplished in the weeks leading up to this game i expected a MUCH better performance. GBs defence is not detroits or denvers, but they made it seem like it was

This is my list of most disappointing Patriots this season:

Alfonzo Dennard
Aaron Dobson
Danny Amendola
Logan Ryan
Marcus Cannon
Duron Harmon

I expect all of these players to be either starters or major contributors in 2014, which makes the 9-3 record even more impressive.

I would rather see Devey than Cannon is that saying much? Thats how bad Cannon is a absolute Turnstyle! I haven't seen Cannon blocked a Defender all year.

Not a good game at all for Cannon. He seems at his best filling in at RT in an emergency situation. As Pat fans we should all hope that Flemming is healthy enough to play this week. I think we will see a big improvement in our running game!!

Does anyone know what is going on with Dennard, is it the shoulder, or has he regressed?
