He's been a nice story and we were all pulling for him but simply put, he's not very good. I can't think of one game where I sat back and thought, geez, Cannon was good today. What confuses me so much is that we're seeing this from a guy who in three years played nine reasonably uneventful games at right tackle where he either started or was an injury replacement very early in the game. This season, we've seen him struggle in a number of roles, whether that's guard, jumbo TE, or as a short-term sub at tackle. Is full-time RT the only thing he can do, or can he not even do that anymore and we just don't know it? Heck, he was getting LT snaps in place of Solder late in training camp.
Well to be fair, it takes a truly exceptional game for an offensive lineman to get singled out for being good. It only takes a few plays to be singled out for being bad, and I feel like we're seeing more of that this season than in his 320 (excluding today) snaps than in the 916 snaps in his first three seasons combined.I'm not sure Cannon can do much of anything. I've never been overly high on Cannon. But I do think he's better suited at guard.
after what this line accomplished in the weeks leading up to this game i expected a MUCH better performance. GBs defence is not detroits or denvers, but they made it seem like it wasHe was no Fleming to be sure, but not sure it's fair to single out Cannon considering how the rest of the line played tonight. Nobody distinguished himself with solid play and several crucial break downs at inopportune times including the big sack to end it.
This is my list of most disappointing Patriots this season:
Alfonzo Dennard
Aaron Dobson
Danny Amendola
Logan Ryan
Marcus Cannon
Duron Harmon
I expect all of these players to be either starters or major contributors in 2014, which makes the 9-3 record even more impressive.
