It's been almost a week, anyone having issues?

Much appreciation for the work you've put in, sir...

I've found some things to be improvements and others to be steps back, which I think is to be expected, especially when you're switching over from something you've been using for a long time. Just some things that either I've seen or others have noted (most have already been mentioned and I"m just cataloging from memory, so my apologies), and that you might find worth a ponder:

  1. For many, having the main forum being so far down the page is an issue. Having an option would help
  2. Editing options (avatar, sig, etc...) are often difficult to find
  3. The jersey takes up a lot of space
  4. Optional posts-per-page count
  5. More smileys (If the old ones aren't portable, so this may be a tough one)
  6. Ability to see who's posted in a thread
  7. There may be too many "like" icons
  8. Draft auto-save would (IMO) be better if it were optional

Because of space required I wish there were an option to turn off/on the
jersey and the stats display OR
an option to show as a mouse over bubble display.

Also a preference to display inline images or just post as links.
I can see if users start posting a lot of images this turning into
something like a JETS message board. Those space eating images
require a lot of scrolling.

The overall appearance of the new site is appealing .

I did forget at least one other item, Ian (apologies)....

Searches don't seem to be searching the old threads. I don't know if you consider that a feature or a bug, of course.

I don't mind the "My Jersey" on my computer or mobile landscape view, but I do think it's a bit excessive on mobile portrait view. I think having two separate displays for portrait and landscape is awesome, though!

No issues.

Like you said, the old link directs to this forum now.

So many more options with this new forum and its similar adjusting to where controls are and how they work in a new car. Thanks again Ian.

May I second RayClay? I'm a slow learner, but even I'm getting there with the basic controls. But the space taken up by even short posts is a negative.

Like the new format...Haven't figured out how to do anything but post yet; not a criticism, just lack of having time to poke around
Would like the following improvements...
1. Ability to see the twitter feeds on devices like MacBook Air
2. Either drop the my jersey or let it be user eliminated...way too much white space
3. Main forum requires too much scrolling down to access

almost forgot
4. Thread Ignore needs to return!

I noticed that. That's because I have to run a script to generate the index but haven't removed the old DB off the server yet. Once I do that I'll be able to create the index, it's just space remains tight holding two huge databases. So hopefully in the next week or so once I'm sure everything is all set.

I agree. I'm going to hide it for mobile. I'm looking into making the stats, etc. optional as well and will hopefully implement something soon on that.

Just posting this thread for anyone who is having trouble adjusting to the new format. Please respond here if you are and I'll be happy to try and help you through it.

Overall, I like it. I still don't see a way to instantly block or ignore the petty bickerers which is my number one complaint. There was a tedious way in the old system that I seldom used because it was completely disconnected from the user in question.

1) I'll be adjusting that like I did with the old forum, so hang with me a bit there ;)

2) Agree, although I'm going to put together a tutorial to help people out. Going to be a bit time consuming so that's going to take a little time.

3) I'll look into making that optional.

4) I'll see if something exists for that.

5) Yes...I know ;)

6) Surprised that doesn't exist and I'll see if I can find a plugin for that.

7) Agreed. Started out as a cool thing but there are quite a few. I'll trim those down.

8) Also agree. Cool concept, but unnecessary IMO, unless your PC crashes all the time. I'll see if it can be disabled.

Can we block threads like we used to be able to ? Too much O.T. stuff.
I'll be re-adding something for this. I saw one but it seemed a little shady, so I'll research a little further and will hopefully have a solution soon.

Click the user's name and the window will pop up and you can click "ignore" right from there

I think the new forum is outstanding; the alert system is great you can go to conversations without having to read through and see where or whom the response came from. I only have three questions –
  1. Are we all going to remain rookies, or will our previous ratings be restored at some point?
  2. Is there any way to change the text font type of the thread? I have something against Times New Roman that my shrink and me are yet to work through :)
  3. When you cut and paste it from somewhere else the thread automatically adds an additional space between paragraphs, etc.
Overall, though like I said this outstanding, I personally like the jersey features and although I miss Tap talk it being down has lessened my need to enter sports forum anonymous.

If you're in a thread, just click on their username and you can select "Ignore."

EDIT: PWP's got the same info above.

A shout out to the un-named poster who PMed me this as I have Ian on Ignore
LOL, very nice :D

On another note, I'm going to be inserting the beat writer feed back into the spot it was in before for you. Had meant to do it last night but my son started baseball last night so I got sidetracked after fixing the redirects. Hopefully I'll have time tonight.

1) No - I know there are many annoyed by this but I promise I'll be fixing that ;)

2) I had the font changed in the test forum but didn't update it when I opened this one for real. I'll be changing it, likely over to Arial or a softer font.

3) Hadn't noticed that before, although I'm not sure if that's fixable :(

There's a lot of good stuff, I get a kick out of all of the options to rate a post. I do worry that silly children are going to start disliking everything someone like Deus says just because he's a poster who gets a lot of attention. I don't really like the idea of negative user feedback since places like Reddit make it clear that a lot of the times people are judging a post by aspects other than the post itself. Personally I don't care if someone marks every post of mine as 'dumb' but others will and it will lead to stupid internet slap fights. Which I love. So nevermind, I like it the way it is.

The big issue I have is that the forums are too busy. Stats, jerseys, twitter feeds and the forum itself only takes up about half of the available screen screen real estate which altogether creates a claustrophobic, ADHD-inducing sensation. I guess it's a good setup for the video game generation but I wish, at the very lease, that the jerseys could be hidden and the forum had a variable width instead of being fixed. It feels very cramped and dated here compared to other forums.

My biggest issue is your avatar. Nick's looking incredibly creepy in that photo.
