File this one under - Things I Wish I'd Never Said, because, son, no you don't.

I'm surpirsed no one else mentioned this quote from Rivers shown moments before the game in the CBS montage of stars. He may even have said, "I know what it takes to beat the Patriots," I can't remember exactly and haven't looked at the tape. But think of the hubris it requires to know that such boastful (and unproven, Brees was QB when the Bolts won in NE) remarks are being recorded for national broadcast before your first playoff game. Such recklessness and lack of perspective pretty much typified SD losing efforts. Amazing...

Oh I think they know. They just didn't execute in all aspects of the game. They had a great game plan against the Pats offense. The Pats run game was completely shut down. Brady looked confused for most of the game. The O-Line was blowing people off the line and LT was chewing up yards. They just made a number of correctable errors that had nothing to do with their fundamental game plan. A muffed punt, a fumble on an interception and a personal foul keeping a drive alive are not things that take away from the gameplan which had the Pats beat.

umm, I'm pretty sure you miss the point.

Rivers knows what it takes to beat the Patriots but he plays for the Saints now.:D

Oh I understand your point, but you missed Rivers point. He's talking about the gameplan and he's right about that. The Chargers had the gameplan to beat the Pats. A couple freak things lost it. But the Pats deserved the win because the Chargers made those mistakes.

well rivers pretty much beat the pats...of course marlon mccree on the other hand, gave it all back

the positive i found in the loss was that rivers looked better than brady and made less mistakes, which was kind of amazing for a first time playoff starter. too bad his wrs and dbs crapped the game away.

True. The Chargers will be monsters next year when Rivers has another year of experience under his belt.

brees would have got blown out by the pats, he sucks vs the afc this season.

hell he sucked vs the afc last season haha

rivers was the better option, but his teammates let him down

Yawn. Did somebody say something?

i think they were monsters this year and could have easily gone all the way, in the end some of them were just too mentally incapable of winning, that's one thing the pats have on them in spades: mental toughness

i know rivers and LT were good enough to win, but some of those guys just lacked heart and the will to win, the pats to a man possessed it.

well rivers pretty much beat the pats...

Does that mean that if the Pats win the SB then Rivers pretty much won a SB? How does pretty much winning work. Here in New England the team that scores the most wins and the team that scores the least loses. There's not alot of gray area...

I guess they know how they just chose not to.... bold strategy!

Rivers is the bestest westest widdle All Pro QB ever....on Planet Diego

no...that means that rivers did enough to win....but his teammates (a select few) let him down

when you guys lost to denver last season in the playoffs, wasn't there a person on your team that day who did enough to win but was let down by his teammates, i know you know where i'm coming from

it's like how LT did enough to win, but was let down by other parts of the supporting cast

like i said the positive i'm taking out of the game is rivers did better than brady in my opinion, and played alot more solidly than the typical first time playoff starter who faces a BB NE team, but rivers can't int the pass and down it like a normal smart db and he can't catch his own passes.

alot of rivers success though was also his oline, i don't think i heard seymour's name once all day.

i really am pulling for the pats to beat the living hell out of peyton, the dude gets crushed by the 3-4 as you well know

i hope you guys win th SB, that will make us giving the game to you a little less pathetic lol

Unless the injury bug bites. Too many (non-Patriots) teams require health to be good. Maybe they'll be lucky two years in a row, maybe not.

we had quite a few injuries on defense this season but you're right , no major LT or rivers or gates injury

the wrs and pretty much the dline and lbs all went through some nagging injury periods

Well, I'm looking forward to next year's matchup between the Bolts and Pats. And it should be a great one.

Most first time playoff starters don't have LaDanian Tomlinson as their running back.

Kind of takes a load off, I think.

There was more than 6 minutes left when McCree intercepted it, and the Patriots were down only 1 score. Like most Charger fans, you think the object of the game is to be ahead at some point before the final whistle.
