'Dislike' vote?

Eery bit as much as those who "like" for reasons that need no explaining. The notion that one is somehow a perfect follow while the other isn't is an extremely silly one.

Untrue. I, for one, have no idea why you would 'dislike' Rico's post. It even requires explanation beyond 'because I find it silly'.

The like button on the other hand is the equivalent of quoting someone and posting 'ditto' or 'this' and doesnt require additional verbage.

A dislike button would seem to be a way to express negativity and be generally disagreeable without adding to the forum in any way. It is in effect a way to bully people into posting in a homogeneous way. That would be a great detriment to these forums and is something I hope to never see. Without disparate opinions, there is no forum.

Now we're supposed to be such shrinking violets that even a "dislike" is too much, and is considered bullying? Seriously? If that's where this place is going Ian might as well just shut the place down and save himself a lot of grief.

I can't believe that there are people here on a pro football sports site who shrink in abject horror of receiving a (gasp!!!) "dislike" to their post. Too many young products of society where no score is kept in sports. If the "Dislike" is too vague and indiscriminate without further comment, why not eliminate the "Like" button? I believe that the Like serves to reduce slightly the AOL style "Me too!" replies. Similarly, I don't want to post another tired reply to the idiocy of trading Brady, letting Welker go as a FA, or starting Mallet (pre-season drivel) but would certainly spend the 2 seconds to click a well deserved Dislike to the post.

We used to have something like thumbs up and thumbs down. The board survived. The only nasty issue here was Ian's way too slow response in kicking NEM off the board.

Yeah - that was pretty stupid of me and clearly a major blunder on my part. Oddly enough I just found an attempted registration from him recently, so clearly he's still around.

I had thought about it and had a discussion with someone else who owns another board that had it and then killed it. I agree with the majority that the end result is still the same. If you don't like the thread, move onto the next one. A negative rating won't change that.

The star rating is enough, although I'm looking into another option that's similar but haven't found one that I like yet. There's also another system I've checked into that could make certain ones drop off and not get bumped, but I have to do some further testing there first.

The only reason I'm not a fan of a "dislike" button is because its too general. It would be more relatable to PatsFans if posts could be labeled "Made of Glass" and "Bust" and "Blow it up" and "Jet Fan"

Now, now. Why the hostility, especially the passive hostility, which is really nothing more than negativity hiding behind feigned earnestness? I didn't "dislike" your post, after all.



In all seriousness, if you can't figure out how ridiculous the notion that "'like' is ok, but 'dislike' is bullying" really is, that doesn't reflect well upon you.
