NOT !!!

If these last 2 games vs the Yankee's are any indication of what is to come
... we're going home early unless we can clone Youk, Bay and Martinez.

Okay ... Okay ... I just made this thread to vent a little ... relax Icy ... take a deep breathe :help::help::help:

Yankees are bringing some of their best ball against us. We'll need some sort of minor miracle to progress past them if we meet them in the playoffs.

these last two games don't mean squat cmom guys. regular season games don't translate to the playoffs. to say the sox need a miracle is a overstatement to say the least. as long as lester is healthy they can get swept this weekend for all i care. its all about the playoffs now.

I'm reading all the hoopla in the newspaper today about Yankee domination and I'm thinking contrarily. Dice K, who is at best, the third man in the rotation, and most likely fourth, duals the Yanks ace in yesterday's game. If these two teams meet, I'd take the Sox's staff over the Yanks.

Guys, these games don't matter. The playoffs are an entirely different animal. The one thing I would worry about, is teams running on the Sox catchers. Still though, I'd feel pretty good about having a 1-2 of Lester Beckett in the playoffs, with a good bullpen, and very good defensive team. I still think the Sox are the favorite of the playoff teams. Their offense will be what stops them if they get knocked out, but I don't think that will be an issue.

Scout, he allowed 12 base runners in 7 innings, of a meaningless game. Oh, and without Posada playing. Putting stock in that outing, would be similar to my thinking that Lester can't beat our #4, Joba Chamberlain. I wouldn't ever think that after Friday night's game.

BTW, how crazy is this about this years season series between the Sox & Yankees.

RIVALRY REVERSAL: After losing the first eight games of the season series, the Yankees have won eight of the last nine games against Boston. The Red Sox lead the season series 9-8. Each team has scored 97 runs.

You go 0-8, or 8-0, depending on your perspective, and then find yourself a game up/down after 17 games. The craziest part for me, is the runs scored. They're both at 97 runs with 1 game remaining. That's just nuts.

The odds to that happening had to bhe similar to winning the lottery ... incredible turn of weird events.

Actually Icy, that's the thing with these two teams. I remember a factoid a year or two ago, similar to the one I posted, where the Sox and Yankees were something like 24-24 over their last 48 games, and were 1 run apart in scoring. It was nuts how equal the teams were, over a couple seasons worth of games.

Like I was saying ... this team needed to ramp it up nears seasons end.
Resting Beckett and Lester made sense ... turning the rest of the team down did not.

I had no optimism for this post season ... none.

lmao to funny. how about the dodgers record the last two weeks. go look at there record they were 6 and 7 and now they are moving on. the sox were 4 and 6. give it up already. the last weeks mean zero unless your in a pennant race. anybody with a brain would rest there players after a grueling year. francona has done the same thing in previous years and won the ws.

It's not the record CI ... it was the attitude on that team. From Francona on down there was no life in that clubhouse the last 3 weeks ... they were flat. Lester and Beckett ... fine, they needed a rest. But the hitters needed a fire lit under their azz ... not days off. Ortiz was a actually ramping it up until he got days off. We backed up into the playoffs and we backed out of them. Look at the lack of posts in the Sox forum the last week ... there was no excitement. Many of us fans sensed this.

oh now its not the record lmao. how the hell do you know the attitude of the team? the sox didn't back up into anything. you don't win 95 games and back into sh!t. sometimes you just have to give credit to the other team. the sox performance in the last two weeks isn't why they lost in the playoffs. like i said before many people have already given plenty of examples of teams who sucked the last two weeks of the season and went on to win the ws. but you ignore those reasons and try and change your story because you don't want to admit your clueless.
