Does anybody follow/participate in the UK's amatuer league. Im going to tryout for my local team (not sure who is the most local to me yet). I hear that they do not really care about past experience/skill level as long as you're dedicated and willing to learn. My entire experience of actually playing football is just throwing a ball between my mates.

I have been training with Shropshire Revolution for last few years, but am not training at the moment due to college work.

We play in BAFL division 2, this season being our 3rd in the league :)

First season we finished 2-8, last season was 5-5 and this season we are 1-1 at the moment :)

Good stuff, i think my nearest team is in Liverpool which wouldn't be too bad. Did you have any prior experience before joining up? What position do you play?

Merseyside Nighthawks :)

And I had no experience, I was 16 when I joined. I started training at cornerback, and then moved to linebacker as I got bigger (and slower) and this season I started to train at tight end, because I wanted some glory.

But as one of the coaches said, I haven't really found my true position :)

Haven't played for years, but would love to get back into it. If anyone in the south west is looking for an unfit 31 year old who has lost at least 2 yards of pace, point them in my direction.

Where do the Nighthawks train? I want to join and play QB or WR but I don't know how far I have to travel. I joined a team in Liverpool called the Liverpool Centurions but the head coach had to quit because of a change in his working shifts.

I have no idea. So look on the BAFL/Nighthawks website, it will tell you on there :)

I think you're right. There's Manchester Titans but they play in Chorlton. Oh and Lancs play in Blackburn by the looks of it ( I had a quick look on the BAFL website).

My local team are the Kent Exiles. They're in BAFL 1, which looks like a competitive league. I'm too fat/slow/old/cowardly to play, but I've been to watch them a couple of times this season. It's the first year I've done this and I regret not going sooner. I went to watch the London Blitz a couple of years ago, but they're some way away and I couldn't "get into them". I feel more of a connection to a team like the Exiles.

I'm trying to get to as many home games as possible and the away game against the London Cobras. The Exiles are in a funny division with loads of teams from East Anglia, which is a couple of hours' drive North for us. We discussed the idea of a weekend trip to somewhere like Suffolk so we could take in a game at Ipswich.

The two games I have been were great fun. The first game, against Ipswich, was a bit of a blowout for the Exiles. Then they played the Cambridgeshire Cats the week later. They won, just- 63-59!!! It was a mental game. They're 3-0 at the moment. The two teams to worry about are the Cats and Cobras.

There is loads of passion, effort and organisation. The club staff sell hotdogs, burgers and merchandise and people are friendly. Miss Cat came with me to the first game. She enjoyed it and learned a lot more about the game. It's easier to point out what's going on when you're there.

Nighthawks are based in Birkenhead and I seen to remember them playing at Birkenhead Rugby Club so I'd assume they train there.
