Lions Gab: Why preseason game vs. Patriots is huge - Anthony Kuehn - Kuehn feels this game is important and cites their last meeting in terms of predicting how their season ended up going:

Two years ago, the Lions played the Patriots at home in the third preseason game and again, it was an excellent predictor of what was to come that year. The offense made a number of big plays and had a 17-10 lead when the starters left the game. The defensive front harassed Tom Brady and the starters sacked him twice and forced a fumble.

Detroit Lions' Ashlee Palmer seems to be leading race for starting outside linebacker spot - Dave Birkett - Birkett looks at the linebacker battle and writes, "After splitting time with Tahir Whitehead and Travis Lewis early in camp, Ashlee Palmer has worked exclusively with the first-team defense the past two weeks."
