MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND TRIBUTE:

Like most of the people in the football business our staff can actually celebrate or relax for a few days during each year's Memorial Day weekend, since we know that most others are doing the same, so the volume of calls, emails or requests actually subsides for a few days... However, this year brought the true meaning of Memorial Day much closer to home... residing in the New Orleans area has brought the current conflict overseas right into my everyday life, as nearly 30 of the over 1,800 soldiers who have perished over the past two years, while fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, have come from the state of Louisiana... three such families have been touched by the war in just recent days/months... so this year I spent a portion of the Memorial Day weekend greeting several current and former enlisted men/women at the World War II/D-Day Museums, which are located right in the heart of downtown New Orleans... there are of course additional personal reasons for my increased desire to give something back, as my uncle, Frank Cepero, passed away after a long battle with cancer earlier this year, he was awarded a Purple Heart among several other medals of honor for his service in World War II, my father, John, served in the Air Force during the Korean War and one of my neighbors back home in New York, William Halloran, is one of living survivors of the Attack on Pearl Harbor, as he and has brother were aboard the U.S.S. Phoenix on that fateful morning... if you want to bring it closer to the NFL homefront you need look no further than people like Roger Staubach and Rocky Bleier... the service and dedication of these men, as well as countless others are what allows each and everyone of us to enjoy the freedom and ability to work each day in this great business... if you would like to help support some of the great programs available to everyday citizens, please visit www.operationhomefrontsupport.org.

REMEMBERING J.T. CURTIS SR:

A sad moment overshadowed the festivities of the Memorial Day Weekend, as J.T. Curtis Sr., a historical presence in both the Louisiana and Southern region football family, passed away just days after his final group of students completed their senior year... he had decided to retire from active duty at the school earlier this year, saying he would turn the reigns over to the school and its renowned high school football program to his son, J.T. Curtis Jr... the school has churned out many Division I-A and I-AA players, including recent Memphis quarterback Danny Wimprine and Nicholls State running back Colt Colletti... a full service is likely to be scheduled for later this week, but the number of families, lives and futures that J.T. Curtis Sr. touched and molded will surely carry on for many more years to come... our sincere condolences go out to the Curtis', their friends and the entire John Curtis High School family.

NFL SUPPLEMENTAL DRAFT UPDATE:

Former KENTUCKY linebacker CHAD ANDERSON (#55), who was at one-time a solid leader and contributor during his first three years, will opt for the NFL's Supplemental Draft, as opposed to transferring down to a lower level of college football... he withdrew from the school/team earlier this spring, as he was under academic suspension, so that he could work on his grades... led the SEC in tackles (125) in 2003, and several had compared him to former Ohio State standout Andy Katzenmoyer in terms of size, production and style of play... more information regarding his status and workout schedule will be made available shortly... he wore jersey #55 while with the Wildcats... weighs 6016, 250 pounds...

2006 PROSPECT UPDATES:

"He (Wright) has not missed a single workout... he's never been late or passed on doing any of the items on his daily routine... (I) see a kid that has been on time with no schedule conflicts or issues... he's really been self-motivated while he's been out here because he's training by himself without the benefit of having other guys here with him"... once the NFL sets a date for the Supplemental Draft and gives teams the green light to observe his workouts, the plan is to have him perform a complete workout in Colorado, which is likely to take place between late June and early July... please contact his agents for more information or to obtain additional game film.
