*Our staff is proud to announce the advancement of our relationship with the East-West Shrine Game, as John Murphy was officially named the game's new Director of Player Development this week. You can read more about it on the game's website www.http://shrinegame.com/pr_03_16_05.php. We are also very excited about recent conversations with Darry Alton, the CEO of the All-American Classic, as Darry has been working overtime, since late-January, and will have some most-interesting details about his 2006 contest coming in the next few weeks. Our staff has also been in contact with members of the HBCU All-Star Classic, Hula Bowl and East Coast Bowl about aiding in the process and transfer of information regarding their games to the NFL teams, player reps and media over the course of the next year.

*In just about two weeks of covering Pro Day events throughout the country, since the Combine, our staff has compiled over 250 results, nearly 180 in just the last four updates, not including the ones that appear in today's report.

*Due to the heavy volume of Pro Days to attend, scouts were not available on Thursday to attend the workouts scheduled for McNeese State or Tennessee-Chattanooga... two of the players that were anxious to perform were senior defensive tackle JOHN PAUL JONES (McNeese State) and wide receiver ALONZO NIX (UTC)... since both are returning to the New Orleans area to continue their training our staff plans to at least get updated 40-times from them over the weekend... two other players that fit into that category are senior offensive lineman CLAY MARTIN (Georgetown, KY) and senior linebacker JEREMY DAVIS (Stephen F. Austin), as they had have limited opportunities in terms of finding workouts that they can attend.

*UPDATE ON PREVIOUS RESULTS: Kansas State senior wide receiver ANTHONY MADISON... his actual vertical from his Pro Day was 42", while his broad jump was 10'11"... the initial results provided to us were 33" and 9'2" broad jump, which were incorrect.

BREAKING NEWS:
Several observers out of Michigan are saying that senior defensive back MARLIN JACKSON, who posted a fine Pro Day performance earlier today, slipped during one of his drills and after a post-workout X-ray was determined to possibly have broken his wrist... it was not immediately made known if it was his left or right wrist, but if broken, it could require surgery and 4-to-6 week recovery period... junior safety ERNEST SHAZOR, who pulled up did suffer a pulled hamstring, according to one of the school officials, but no final word on how badly he was injured has been made available.

*EXCLUSIVE UPDATES ON QUARTERBACK WORKOUTS:

CALIFORNIA (March 17th) junior quarterback AARON RODGERS threw passes two a pair of receivers and one tight end... scripted and led by his college head coach Jeff Tedford... threw all of the routes... did 3-5-7 step drops... rollouts and also threw several deep balls, as well... had only one mis-fired pass, as well as three drops... very crisply thrown ball... showed off his quick release... good mobility throughout his workout... his accuracy was solid and there was plenty of zip on his routes... "Of the two (Alex Smith) the one thing that stands out to me with him (Rodgers) would be his release", said one AFC quarterback coach... "From top to bottom that was a very strong workout... liked the velocity on his passes... very accurate and throws with good touch on his deep ball", explained one NFC evaluator... previously weighed in at 6022, 223 pounds at the Combine... has been timed between 4.71 and 4.78 in the 40... 34.5" vertical... 9'8" broad jump... 4.52 short shuttle... 7.38 three-cone... expects to take a few private visits between now and the draft.

UTAH (March 16th) junior ALEX SMITH, whose workout was reviewed in our previous edition, worked out for scouts/coaches on Wednesday... since scouts/coaches have been given a few days to review that information and the tapes of the event... we were able to receive a few additional thoughts on the workout... while they differ some from the first report we should also point out that we made mention of that fact upon first reporting his results... "This is why (I) like to evaluate the quarterbacks at the Combine... because we are in control of the workout, and it is not so scripted... here's what I mean... a lot of the deeper routes he threw... receivers were not going at full-speed... so he put a lot of air under the ball, throwing them high and the receivers came back to catch some of them... so of course you hear that he had only three hit the ground and one dropped... but in game situations if he throws the ball like that it will get intercepted or knocked down"... "His deep outs and some of the crossing patterns had good, but not great velocity on the throws... his release has a bit of a windup to it... nothing too bad... but slower than the other kid (Aaron Rodgers)... and he was slow, not mechanical, but slow on his seven step drops... keeps his left shoulder open so he can see the backside, but he does not get back to his point fast enough"... "You might need to get him more reps so that he will keep the ball high coming back from center... might tend to let it drop lower, which will elongate his release... like his intangibles... there's a good to very good NFL quarterback in there, but he's not a finished product in my opinion"... "Oh, one final note, while it has been widely circulated that he received a standing ovation after the workout, all of the people in attendance were already standing through the workout, but you know how people like to spin things".

LOUISVILLE junior running back ERIC SHELTON is schedule to meet with Dallas on March 22nd.

USC senior kicker RYAN KILLEEN will have private workouts with both Indianapolis and San Diego over the next few weeks.

UTAH senior offensive guard CHRIS KEMOEATU spoke to several teams earlier this week, Wednesday, including Detroit, as many teams are seeing him as a possible mid-to-late day one draft choice.

MCNEESE STATE senior kicker JOHN MARINO, who earned several post-season honors throughout his career, and senior offensive lineman CODY LEBLANC are two other prospects that were unable to perform for scouts on Thursday, since there was no one in attendance to record their workout numbers.

FERRIS STATE senior defensive tackle WHITNEY BELL will be working out at Michigan State's Pro Day on March 19th... he was a Division II All-American, as a senior... currently weighs 6020, 300 pounds, which is almost 20 pounds heavier than he was last spring... has been running 4.82 to 4.87 in the 40... 25-28 reps of 225 pounds... but his first 10-yards should be very impressive... has been squatting at the end of his workouts, doing over 600 pounds...

NORTHERN ILLINOIS senior wide receiver/return man DAN SHELDON (collarbone) and senior linebacker/defensive end TRAVIS MOORE (hamstring) will both be working out on April 13th, as they were unable to perform for scouts at the school's most recent workout, although Moore got injured during that workout, so he missed only certain drills.

OKLAHOMA junior safety BRODNEY POOL has received additional attention from Green Bay, Kansas City and Miami... seems to be a likely candidate to be drafted by one of those teams (or others) somewhere in round two.

UNLV senior offensive lineman JOSEPH CRUTCHFIELD has been training for his Pro Day at the end of this month... has shed over 20 pounds, since the Las Vegas All-American Classic, as he currently weighs 304 pounds with the hopes of being at 300 pounds for his workout... weighed in at 329 pounds at the LVAAC.

WESTERN KENTUCKY senior offensive lineman BUSTER ASHLEY did not workout at his Pro Day on March 16th, as the coaching staff informed them that he has decided to give up football and not pursue a pro career, as of today.

WISCONSIN-LACROSSE senior linebacker DUSTIN POWELL, who ran in the 4.4 range at his Pro Day last week, has received a lot of additional attention, as teams have been requesting additional game film, and at least three teams are trying to schedule private workouts for early April... senior running back/fullback MATT PAGEL is also getting a lot of additional calls, since the Pro Day, as he ran between 4.46 and 4.50 in the 40 at between 245-250 pounds... Seattle seemed to show more attention to him.
