FOXBORO, MA -- Linebacker Junior Seau came out of retirement to join the New England Patriots, hoping to play for a team that would give him a chance to play in a Super Bowl and win a Championship.
Now unfortunately it looks like he'll be on the sidelines, regardless of how his team finishes the season.
Seau suffered a broken arm during Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears at Gillette Stadium. The veteran broke it while making a tackle on Bears running back Cedric Benson. Replays showed the linebacker's hand hanging limply, and he was immediately taken to the locker room with the forearm in an aircast.
The injury will likely end the veteran's season, and it may also have been his final game in the NFL after what has been an impressive career.
The classy veteran waved to the fans as he walked off the field, saying "thank you" as he knows his season is likely over.
