Patriots Promote McDaniels to Offensive Coordinator

The Associated Press reported on Friday that the New England Patriots have promoted 29-year-old quarterbacks coach Josh McDaniels to offensive coordinator, making him the youngest coordinator in the NFL.
McDaniels replaces former offensive coordinator Charlie Weis, who left after the 2004 season to become coach at Notre Dame. No one took Weis' place during this season, with McDaniels and head coach Bill Belichick splitting most of the playcalling duties in the 2005 campaign. Apparently Belichick liked what he saw from his young coach and it earned McDaniels a promotion.
McDaniels joined the Patriots in 2001 as an assistant in the scouting department and was a member of the defensive coaching staff for three seasons before becoming quarterbacks coach in 2004.
