Hey everyone … Laurence Maroney just scored for the fifth consecutive postseason game, and I have a few early thoughts on how things are shaking out so far.
•After splitting time with Randall Gay last week against Jacksonville, Ellis Hobbs appears to have regained his place in the starting lineup. He’s taken every snap with the starters at right corner, while Gay has been reduced to a role as a nickel back.
•Maroney’s touchdown was the first running play the Patriots have run directly behind the right side of the line, a back change from last week where one-third of Maroney’s runs were behind right guard Stephen Neal. (For the record, Neal was the lead blocker on Maroney’s touchdown.)
•So much for my pregame prediction on Philip Rivers. He’s looked pretty good so far, but we’ll see how it all shakes out as the game goes forward.
