A lot of people tend to downplay New England Patriots wide receiver Jakobi Meyers’ value to the team, but the veteran quietly continues to impress.

Case in point, Meyers, who suffered a knee injury at the end of training camp that caused him to miss two weeks after seemingly aggravating it in Pittsburgh, is still not far of from last year’s pace in New England’s passing game.

At this time last season, Meyers led the team in receptions with 36, along with 346-yards (9.6 avg).  Through six weeks of this season, Meyers has 24 receptions for 321-yards (13.4 avg) along with one touchdown.   That’s just 25yds off of last year’s total at this time, which is pretty staggering considering what he’s dealt with health-wise.

He had another productive outing on Sunday after hauling in 4 passes on 4 targets for 60-yards, which follows up on a performance from the previous week where he caught 7 passes for 111-yards along with a touchdown against Detroit.

Meyers also has 14 receiving first downs – a team-high – which is four ahead of the next closest player in DeVante Parker, who has 10.  He’s also the team’s leading third-down receiver, having caught 7-of-10 targets for 114-yards and six first downs.

The veteran receiver finished with a career year after catching 83 passes for 866-yards and two touchdowns in 2021.
