As it was first reported back in March of this year, New England Patriots safety Nate Ebner was on a mission to make the United States Olympic Rugby team and compete in the 2016 Summer games in Rio de Janiero.
On July 18th, it was formally announced that Ebner had in fact secured a spot on the team with a little Patriots #DoYourJob attitude.

As training camp opened up on Wednesday, Ebner was given a roster exemption from the team and head coach Bill Belichick had the following to say about his new olympic athlete during his press conference;
“I’ve talked to Nate several times; I wish him well with his endeavor,” Belichick said. “It’s a great opportunity for him to follow his passion and participate in the Olympic games. We’ll root for him to bring something back around his neck” per a report by Masslive.com’s Kevin Duffy.
So while the NFL is offically back, be sure to also tune into the Olympics to see if Ebner can bring home Gold before he heads off to Arizona to rejoin the team in September.
