It wasn’t perfect for Tom Brady on Sunday during the Patriots 27-10 win over Washington at Gillette Stadium, but when it came to his performance on third down, it was pretty close.

Brady finished the afternoon 10-of-13 (77%) on third down on Sunday, including one touchdown and seven first downs.  The only real mistake he made came on an ill-advised red zone interception, his second pick of 2015 but the first real mental error he’s made throwing the football in an otherwise flawless season.

Overall the Patriots finished Sunday’s game converting 9-of-16 on the afternoon, their third best performance of 2015.

Here’s a quick rundown by week of the team’s third down performances, as well as Brady’s 3rd down passing stats for that week:

WEEK 1 vs Pittsburgh:
Team:
7-of-11 (64%)
Brady:
4-of-6 (67%) 38yds 1TD

WEEK 2 at Buffalo:
Team:
3-of-10 (30%)
Brady: 5-of-9 (56%) 60yds 1TD

WEEK 3 vs Jaguars:
Team:
11-of-14 (79%)
Brady:
7-of-8 (88%) 82yds

WEEK 5 at Cowboys:
Team: 3-of-10 (30%)
Brady: 4-of-5 (80%) 46yds

WEEK 6 at Colts:
Team: 5-of-12 (42%)
Brady: 5-of-7 (71%) 45yds

WEEK 7 vs Jets:
Team: 8-of-16 (50%)
Brady: 10-of-12 (83%) 130yds 1TD

WEEK 8 vs Miami:
Team:
3-of-12 (25%)
Brady: 3-of-8 (38%) 1TD

WEEK 9 vs Washington:
Team:
9-of-16 (56%)
Brady: 10-of-13 (77%) 1TD, 1INT

On Sunday Brady said it was the fact they were able to stay relatively balanced that allowed them to be so successful moving the football.  Now they’ll try and regroup and get ready for a Giants team that is playing well when they get back on the road next week in what should be a tough game.

“We stayed really balanced, took advantage of some third downs there in the second half, which was great, which allowed us to continue to run the ball,” said Brady.  “And then that big touchdown drive that we finished with that touchdown to Brandon was just a great drive by all those guys up front. So that was pretty critical, and it was great to kind of finish the game strong.”
