In the preseason there was a great thread about the zone blocking.

Can someone that knew what was going on comment on the current state of the whole thing? D Bruinz, Unoriginal?

Is it working? Are we still doing it? Is it obvious to the D when it is happening?

Thanks

It doesn't look like they're doing it.

They've done it a few times this year and it's failed miserably. Maroney needs to have those cut back lanes in order to get maximum production out of him. In college, he was a lethal back in a zone blocking scheme. That's why the Broncos coveted him so much.

I'm don't know how well Donte Scarnecchia teaches a zone scheme. Though, I'd be fairly surprised if he didn't understand it completely. He's been around forever and has seen pretty much everything. Maybe it's a personnel problem.

Bump hoping to hear more.

They run it. It's not obvious, no. They don't run it with Faulk because Faulk is best making multiple cuts to jump through holes and lanes, so they man block.

They'll run it for Maroney about half the time, but Maroney isn't a real big part of the offense so far.

Maroney seems to run a lot better inside when its inside zone and the d-line moves then if he has to hit a small window.
