I was just wondering if anybody knows anything about this Tight End. Reports have been positive on him so far. I know its early, but I`m interested in this UDFA, especially with Gronk and Hernandez injured and likely to miss most of training camp.
His pro day numbers compare to Zach Ertz who was the 3rd pick of the second round. Ertz was a little faster, Sudfeld more explosive (BJ but especially VJ) and quickness numbers about the same. Sudfeld had a very bad 225 rep of 11; I guess he has long arms which can make that drill tough (not sure how his arm length compares to Ertz) but Ben Volin's column on Sunday had blocking numbers which suggested he's a good blocker.
The main reason he was undrafted was very sporadic play due to injuries. Looks like he needs to get stronger but we may have a real sleeper here if he can stay healthy.

At the same size the numbers aren't too dissimilar. Now, I'm not saying anything, but the numbers are interesting.
Thanks those stats are interesting. The apparent lack of upper body strength is probably one of the easiest to rectify. Without looking, I bet his combine results compare favorably to Ballard. One additional stat, at least to date he seems to have shown up at every practice.
It will be interesting to see how big a liabilty he is once the pads come on and he has to block. Perhaps with some one on one with Dante combined with a ton of hard work this guy could turn into a bona fide professional football player. It will be intersting to watch. It may be difficult to sneak a guy with that kind of athletic potential onto the practice squad if he shows up and plays well in preseason.
He's an undrafted rookie at arguably the deepest position on the roster who has looked good in a 5 day minicamp in June. Start measuring him for a bust in Canton.
No-one is saying that.
But if i'm Hoomanawanui and Fells i'm now a little bit more worried about my spot. Because if this guy is decent in the blocking area and decent in getting open and catching the ball. Then it is more than Hoomanawanui or Fells will offer and that was proven last year.

Fells was injured. Who knows how he compares to a healthy fells. Anyway every year we have these great prospect tight ends that are going to the next Gronk and they end up busing out. I hope he ends up surprising us but people seem to think that these guys are going to show up and displace seasoned vets.

No way is he going on the PS if he has any promise. We lost two TEs that way two years ago. Thankfully they never amounted to anything.
