Its threads like this where I genuinely wish there were a "hate" option. Borges' perspective is absolutely meaningless to any sensible person.

    From the article,
"One rule the players are trying to implement is being called “The Mangini Rule.” In the players’ opinion, the former New York Jets [team stats] and Cleveland Browns coach overworked players to the degree that it adversely impacted and shortened several careers."

Borges is like an ugly, angry little monster that crawls out of its cave periodically to spew hatred at the world, then returns to its filthy lair to stew and grumble. Thing is that these days, he's shouting into the void -- nobody really listens to him.

They don't call him "Wrong" for nothing. Borges sees a cloud beneath evey silver lining. Remember, we're still going to regret Kraft hiring Belichick one of these days...He wants the players to be angrier than we imagine. Coaches have little or no voice at the table. The players will get training concessions sufficient to soothe their damaged psyches, and then they will report back to their respective coaches and have to make his roster... The tradeoff for owners will be something like the proposed Thursday Night package sailing through in 2014 despite concerns about short week safety.

The contrast between your photo of HH and this quote is enjoyable.

I was keeping an eye on Breer's Twitter account and a couple of times he responded to wise-guy tweets from Borges, who appeared to think he was being clever. Instead, Borges came across as a wanna-be. Shocking.

There are two themes which Ron Borges is drawn to like a moth to a light: Bill Belichick, and employees (players union) versus owners. He is extremely opinionated on both subjects, to such a point that it's as if a disclaimer should accompany any of his articles on either topic.

The unfortunate thing is that so many of his columns center around one of these viewpoints is that he has shut many people off from considering anything he has to say, because on the rare occasions where he can focus on football and not on the evil owners or the despicable head coach he is actually a very knowledgeable analyst and writer of the game. Sadly he is so negatively obsessed with Belichick and owners, that instead we just collectively tune him out.

Those of you who decided to bag on Borges here should take note of what's going on with negotiations. If you go by current reports, Borges was correct.

They seem to be wrapping up as opposed to snagging with the owners making sufficient safety concessions and even raising salary minimums for the rank and file so... I think once again Borgie's fondest wish was foiled by the evil owners. As long as some legal sec'y is still typing furiously to complete a 400 page document so it can be voted on there will be someone angling for just one more little win. Everyone reported there were anscillary issues remaining to be hashed out, but both sides seem to be indicating to all their sources other than Ron that this CBA is too far along to be derailed now by special interests. They have until Tuesday to lock it up so both sides can vote on it by Wednesday and Thursday allowing the league year to commence the following Monday. Wrong can be as unhappy about that as he was about XXXVI (not to mention XXXVIII and XXXIX). Won't change a thing.

It won't change the fact that his article was correct according to other reports, either, no matter how you spin it.

It's true that what Borges is reporting is nothing unique or new. So, speaking of spin, all he's really offering that's different is a smart-than-thou tone:

His own breathlessness in reporting what he knows (along with others) makes it sound like he has unique perspective or understanding. I don't see that he does. He's right that some in the media have jumped the gun — I was surprised that 98.5 on Friday took a "now that a deal is done let's look at free agency tone." But folks who've followed Breer or others with credibility know that a deal is a step-by-step process with ups or downs and potential for collapse until everything is finalized.

Actually, it was unique and new. You're trying to split hairs about the timing, when the timing is sort of the point.

Look, I don't care if people hate the guy, and I've written nothing in response to MoLewisRocks bashing him in another current thread. But choosing a report where he's right to be the place to bash him for the millionth time is moronic.
