You think Belichick runs up the score?

There comes a time (like now) where the entertainment value of your obtuseness just becomes boring. I am SAYING that there is no single point where the "winning" team's behavior became undecent to any reasonable person. It simply was.

Ummm..... as I said, multiple times, in multiple ways. You can't find a tipping point. It's really kind of the point. Again, what's that tipping point? I listed the 4 crushing defeats suffered by that team. which ones were below that tipping point and which were above it?

Also, back to the 100-0 game, how many points were scored by the second and third string players? What style of defense does that team usually play? Why should a team not shoot for something it's never accomplished before, whether it be scoring 100 points or shutting out an opponent? Would 90 points have been too many?
80?
70?
60?
50?
40?
30?

Considering that the opponent can't even score 10 points, isn't scoring 20 points running up the score? You're throwing out words like "reasonable" and undecent (not a word, by the way), but you can't even tell me what the boundaries of "reasonable" were.

Again--I appreciate the fact you acknowledged you feel that hardcore pornography should be allowed on broadcast TV, and there was absolutely nothing wrong with the "winning" team's behavior in the 100-0 game. Again, we have fundamental disagreements on these points.

Hey, look.... here's that red herring again!

I'm going to go have this discussion with a brick wall--I think the wall might be able to absorb things a little better than you. "Again, what's the tipping point?" Are you serious? I AM TELLING YOU I DON'T THINK THERE IS A TIPPING POINT. THAT'S MY OPINION. I FEEL THAT 100-0 IS, IN AND OF ITSELF, A POOR SHOWING BY THE "WINNING" TEAM.

Let's see if that will work, but I doubt it. AGAIN, the analogy was perfect, because it conveys that point--that there IS NO single moment when it occurs.

As for the prissiness of you pointing out my typo with undecent/indecent, that's pretty funny coming from your preoccupation here with "little girls" and "sissies."

Yikes.

I wasn't trying to compare the girls bball game to the NFL... I was trying to get back to football (which is why I check this site) and talk about BB's perceived lack of class.

I did, in fact, mention that high school kids shouldn't be encouraged in roasting opponents in this nature.

Back to football : BB runs up the score and I don't care.

Little girls run up the score and I marginally care. As a parent, I wouldn't let my kids go on national TV and sing off key - I'd tell them they can't sing. Obviously, the parents of the losing squad knew their kids were weak... maybe they should've gotten together to ask the administration to play at a lower level.

Anyhoo - yikes.

There is the can do attitude this country needs.

Yeah they know they suck. They aren't playing cause they think they are gonna win the championship. They are playing to develop team work and a never give up spirit.

And the kids, parents and losing school ain't complaining. The score was reported to the local paper (as most high school scores are) and reporter went holy smoke there might be a story here and called both coaches.

*****

I just got off the phone with a friend who coaches girls basketball.

She says she typically has 2-3 of these type matchups per year.

She uses it as a drill to help the team develop their non dominant hand. In other words, the right handed players only dribble and shoot with their left hand, reverse for the left handed players. Some games she will only give this directive to the starters against a really horrible team she will make even the reserve players do this.

She doesn't like the idea of telling her team to play at half speed, when the team motto is "Give 100% 100% of the time"

This allows her to still demand that from her players. But it prevents the blowouts. Even against the absolute worst of teams if she has two or three bench players using the wrong hand she won't dominate. Win yes. Dominate no.

At first she use to absolutely dread these types of games but one year when she had three games like this in a row, she had three players who now instead of only being able to shoot or dribble with one hand were now almost as accurate with the other hand which helped them win when they played the better teams.

Didn't know the losing team was Ok with it... then in that case, the media overblew yet another story.

When I used to coach HS girls bball, I would play within our division. I wouldn't travel to the capital with our rural team. We still had plenty of good competition.

Regardless... I'm starting to care less and less. Off to talk football elsewhere.
