Its a simple question, I know its taboo, to think about getting rid of Big Sey.. But its his last year, and would he come back??? Im not saying he is a stiff, but what has seymoer done since he signed that 4 year ext in 06..

06 - Fair, but was missing alot, got hurt against Indy..
07 - PUP, came back but was not the same..
08 - Again, just fair IMO..

We could do well with a 3-4 allignment with Green, Wilfork and Warren , with Peppers, Thomas , Mayo, Guyton/Bruschi.. I think Peppers would improve the pash rush, which has been our problem on defense.. I would consider it, only , ONLY, If we are pretty sure that Seymour is done after this year.. Discuss, I know its a touchy subject for some but this is what the fourm is about ..

No, get a great year out of Seymour, as he's in a contract year, then let him go and get a 3rd rounder for it next year. We gave a 2nd rounder for Corey Dillon for one good year. That's at LEAST Seymour's value for next year.

Not a consideration for even a microsecond.

Peppers might be an athlete, but he wil never be a member of the Hall of Fame in Canton. You can't prevent Richard Seymour from modeling for a bust in Canton, even if he murders his mother; and marries his sister and also his brother.

Is that definitive enough for you?

You do realize that Peppers is not a defensive end in this defense... right?

The problem with this evaluation, is that most football fans (including me) do not understand the contributions that Seymour makes. But when BB praises him at high levels, that is good enough for me. In contrast, you see highlight reels of Peppers intercepting a pass and running 90 yards for a TD. Can not compare the two as they are totally different players. I'm thinking BB still likes Seymour and if he signs an extension, I'm with that program.

Re: Would you trade Peppers for Seymour ???

Do I want to trade the best 3-4 defensive end of his generation for a lesser player who's looking for a huge contract?

    I'll pass, thanks.

agreed. Seymour is a great player - was a great player. Peppers is younger, and a great player. Still. It's that simple.

The lack of love for Seymour on this board simply baffles me. Quality 3-4 defensive ends don't grow on trees. We've got two of them and a brilliant nose tackle. Keep the line intact for as long as we can.

Richard Seymour is the most overrated defensive lineman in the league, and quite possibly one of the most overrated football players in the Super Bowl era.

Oh, and to answer your question, as Don Henley would say, 'In a New York Minute.'

BTW, don't do a Google image search for "Big Sey" with the naughty filter turned off. Trust me on this one.

On what grounds do you base you remark other than personal opinion?

I'm not Seymour homer, but the guy is unfairly maligned and has been for some time.

Richard Seymour is 29. Julius Peppers is.....29. They're the same age. It's that simple.

I think you might have that reversed, actually.

But I wouldn't do that trade. Peppers is an OLB in this defense and while I think a LeKevin/Jarvis rotation can do fine, I'd like Seymour there for one more year at least. Especially since the Panthers are basically handcuffed by the Peppers cap hit and are looking to unload him for anything decent at this point. I bet he could be had for a 2nd.

Re: Would you trade Peppers for Seymour ???

Seymour has never been the same since he signed his big contract extension. I used to love how he played/dominated.....now....I am ready to move on.

Maybe it was injuries....I don't buy that though....unless he injured his "desire".

For the trade mentioned.....yeah...I would do it as long as we spend an early draft pick on the DL as insurance.

Re: Would you trade Peppers for Seymour ???

What a bunch of ignorant fools.

You do know that he had the most sacks, 8.5 by far the most pressures 16, and still demanded double and triple teaming. The only problem with Seymour was that he wasn't selected to the Pro-bowl for his 2008 season.

Y'all realize he has been around forever and must be an old timer right? Wrong! He will turn thirty this season. That means he hasn't even entered his Prime years yet!

If you clods keep it up you jusut may get him fed up enough to leave the Pats, but fortunately Belichick won't let him go.
