I would be willing to give up our 2 first round picks to get Nick Fairley.

Nick Fairley will go in the top 3, and now that Luck is out of the draft he
    could go #1 overall.

After watching him in the BCS Championship, I would give both our first
    round picks to get Fairley.

We could move him to DE and our DL would be scary.
He had 12 sacks this year, so is is a guy who can get to the QB
and also excel at stopping the run.

According to the Trade Chart, we may have to give more than #17 & #32.
In recent years, teams in the top 5 are not able to get trade chart value
    for their picks.

Carolina who does not have a 2nd round pick, may be willing to move
the pick to get two first round picks.

no. He's more of a penetrator than a "hold the line" guy anyway. Kind of immature too.

    #54 Jersey

Yes, I would but BB won't.

Also no GM in the NFL would make that trade, based on this value chart.
Draft Countdown - Trade Value Chart

    #17 & #32 = 950 + 590 = 1540

Top 5 picks start at 1700

So throw in pick 33 for another 580 gives a total of 2120 , this gets you to pick 3.

God the math is killing me.

I would if I thought Fairley could transition to our scheme flawlessly and give us 10 years of what Seymour was at his peak. I just don't think that's the case. I would've done it for Suh though.

Depends on what happens over the next few weeks. If Fairley somehow makes it past 6 and we show little weakness on the way to the Superbowl, yes I would especially with 2 second rounders including 33. Some other things to keep in mind are what happens with the development of Price/Tate between now and then as well as the future of Mankins, Neal, and the pass rush situation.

Absolutely Not. There isn't a single player in this draft worth two 1st rnd picks.

Besides, I don't see him fitting this defense anyway.

I would rather have 1 - Fairley than another Maroney and Merriweather.

I do not want to pay him 50 million and I understand that Belichick likes
    value.

After last years draft, I have a lot more faith in our drafting that I did
when Pioli was in the picture.

OK, fair enough. Would you also rather have 1 Glenn Dorsey than another Wilfork and Mankins?

No. Fairley is in contention for #1 overall, I'd rather have the two picks and double the chance to grab a quality kid. Further, I'm not interested in paying a rookie DL, no matter how impressive, more then I'm paying Vince Wilfork - if "I" am Bill Belichick anyway.

He is the prototypical "shoot the gap" DT, and, as such, isn't really fit for our system.

Two draft picks for a player who is anything but a sure thing? You must be out of your mind.

How can you trade two 1st rounders for someone who is unproven in the NFL. We also have too many positions where we need help to give up 1st round talent.

This draft is pretty deep at certain positions, so no way would I trade away picks to move up to the top 3. I don't believe any one player is worth giving up a minimum of three high draft picks to get.

Let BB do his magic with our plethora of picks. I'm sure they'll turn out just fine.

    #3 Jersey

    Hear, hear!!

The question is BS, anyway. We'd have to give up:

    #17 ~ 1st Rounder
    #32 ~ 1st Rounder
    #33 ~ 2nd Rounder
    #64 ~ 2nd Rounder
    #76 ~ 3rd Rounder

Just to move up to #2, not this TWO Pick FANTASY that the OP proposed!!

And if we needed to move up to #1, we simply don't have the 3000 points needed to do so!!

Worst idea I ever heard of.

    ***

Coach Bill The Mad does not get fleeced. He FLEECES.

And I would think it would be obvious, by now: There're enough Top Shelf 3-4 Ends available ~ JJ Watt, Mo Wilkerson, Cam Heyward ~ that one is likely to be available at #17, or thereabouts...With other worthies ~ Jarvis Jenkins, Lawrence Guy ~ available, later.

And there is an OCEAN of worthy Flanker talent, which makes it VERY likely that some talented cats will drop FAR below where they might otherwise be expected to go: Not only because of the direct competition, but because ~ even more importantly ~ the very REALITY that there are TONS of Flankers left will cause them to drop PRECIPITOUSLY, while teams scramble to snatch up OTHER commodities ~ QB and O Tackle, for instance ~ before somebody ELSE does: The old Law of Supply and Demand!!

    Aldon Smith
    Ryan Kerrigan
    Steven Friday
    Martez Wilson
    Justin Houston
    Jabaal Sheard
    Brooks Reed
    Christian Anthony
    Greg Romeus

    ...and others, yet!!

    ***

We could Load UP, this year. It would be INSANE to dump it all for Fairley the Dirty Gap Shooting One Year Wonder!! :bricks:

    #12 Jersey

This is a great point. Except for a stud rookie QB spot, there is no way BB upsets the compensation tiers of his dressing room.

Remember to that prior to this year Auburn coaches considered Fairley was JAG. The new scheme is what really helped him excel and if he is not in that same scheme in the pros, will he be JAG again?
