Would this have become what it has if the offending team was a small market team?

The fact that it was Mangini and the fact that it was a New York team (although they play in NJ) seems to be a big deal of why this was severally dealt with and Goodell who resides and rules in New York probably was pressured to be stern about the punishment.

If this was a small market team without major tons of supporters and fan base such as Jacksonville and Carolina would this have been blown out of proportion like it has?

I think the New York media frenzy had a part in burying Belichick before the casket was even lowered into the ground.

It may seem crazy to some but if this were a small market team like the teams mentioned above or others like Seattle,Green Bay to name a few we would not be hearing as much about it and probably the punishment may have been less even though it was just a higher publicized team it was against.

Your opinion?

This was a conspiracy to take down the Pats pure and simple. No one cares about this ridiculous "violation". it was an unenforced rule broken by everybody. Only Mangini and the competition committee decided to whip up a frenzy out of envy and jealousy. Only a despicable person would have made a stink about it, and only jealous competitors would have grandstanded demanding punishment. Such things only happen to the powerful, who incur the base envy of small minds. Time to get over it.
