Enjoyed your show very much today Intimidator.

No more updates to rumors at the winter meetings? Are the Sox any closer to signing Holliday or could this drag out for a while?

Nope not as of yet, I will be updating as they come in. Stay tuned.

Red Sox have called to express interest in LH free agent reliever Ron Mahay.
Twitter / Michael Silverman: Red Sox have called to exp ...

Kindof funny to have a former Replacement Outifielder who crossed the line in 1994 return to the Sox... not to mention have quite the career he had in staying in the league this long.

Of course the Sox have a long history with replacement players playing for them... Lou Merloni, Kevin Millar, Brian Daubach

Jason Bay has rejected Boston's latest proposal, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (via Twitter). Bay's agent Joe Urbon told Rosenthal there are "other offers on the table that are of greater interest" to his client.

The last known offer from the BoSox was a four-year pact worth $60MM. It has been said that Bay is seeking the security of a five-year contract.

Interesting. Sounds like a hand of Texas Hold Em going on.

There's no way the Red Sox give Jason Bay a 5-year contract ... David Patten said so.

Cuban left-handed pitcher Aroldis Chapman has an offer on the table from the Boston Red Sox worth $15.5 million, several sources told ESPN The Magazine's Jorge Arangure Jr.

The 21-year-old received the offer while he was still represented by Edwin Mejia, Arangure reported. Chapman is currently represented by the Hendricks brothers. Randy Hendricks told teams this week that they aren't even accepting offers at this point, so it's possible that Boston's offer has still been the only one Chapman has officially received.

On Tuesday, the Cuban defector is scheduled to throw for teams at a workout in Houston. The Red Sox are one of the teams that will be in attendance, Hendricks told ESPNBoston.com.

Hendricks said on Wednesday in Indianapolis that the purpose of the workout was simply an opportunity for teams to get to know Chapman since there still is an air of mystery surrounding him. Hendricks said Chapman would only throw a bullpen session and would not face any live hitters.

Chapman had a personal workout with the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park earlier this fall and reportedly came away impressed with what he saw.

"Boston was one of the teams he was interested in from the start, and that certainly hasn't changed," Mejia, told The Boston Globe. "It was a very good visit."

Chapman, whose fastball was clocked at 102 mph at the World Baseball Classic this year, defected from the Cuban national team in August during a tournament in the Netherlands.

Jorge Arangure Jr. writes for ESPN The Magazine.

Re: Winter meetings/ Red Sox rumors thread

10:48pm: The Red Sox might also be looking into extending an offer to free agent Matt Holliday, reports Mike Silverman of the Boston Herald. However, Silverman notes that signing Bay, let alone the more expensive Holliday, would be difficult.

7:31pm: The Mets have not heard from Bay's agent, Joe Urbon, in the last couple of days, a team official tells Adam Rubin of the New York Daily News. The same official says not to expect the club to ink Bay or Bengie Molina before Christmas.

In other Mets news, Carlos Delgado's delay in returning to baseball via the Puerto Rican winter league is apparently a result of issues related to the hip surgery he had last summer.

6:48pm: Boston has had internal discussions about extending their organizational budget to potentially allow for another offer to be made to Jason Bay, a team source tells Rob Bradford of WEEI. The discussed proposal would be in the vicinity of the four-year, $60MM deal originally pitched to the slugger.

It was widely thought that the signings of John Lackey and outfielder Mike Cameron spelled the end of Bay's tenure with the Red Sox as the club is now teetering on the edge of the $170MM luxury tax threshold.
