Man - I think this team is going to be a nightmare for other teams to face... I saw so much to drive opposing OCs and DCs crazy tonight.

Edelman, Chung, multiple TE sets with TEs that can PLAY!

Oh and they've still got the boring old standard offerings of Moss, Welker, Seymour... geeze it goes on and on.

One shouldn't feel overly emboldened after one pre-season game but DAMN - this team can really do some damage this year!

As part of the collective bargaining agreement, they should expand rosters to 60 players with a 10 man practice squad, so the Patriots can continue to dominate.

As if they don't have enough tough decisions on the D-line, Pryor came from nowhere to make quite an impact. TBC also looked better than I expected, and Burgess contributed more than I thought he would after such a short time here.

Maroney, Maroney, Maroney... looks like the same old dancer to me. Like Watson, he's a guy I'm tired of hearing excuses for. But, while Morris looked great on the first few carries, later on we saw that he's just not a main-back kinda guy. We really need to see what Fred Taylor's got left in the tank. Thank God the O-line and pass-catchers on the team allow Brady to utilize the short passing game as a running game substitute. But it'd be nice to see a real kick-ass running game as well...

I would not blame Morris at all on getting stuffed.

Walter was tipping off the defense about the snap. Walter was not very good at all in keeping the defense off balance. A second (A FULL SECOND) before the snap he would begin leaning back and that would tip-off the defense that always had a running start on those short running plays. Anyone who has this on DVR should take a look at what happened when Morris got stuffed in the second half. Keep an eye on Walter, and then the Philly defense. Morris had no chance.

We didn't get the game down here, but, based on reports:

Winners. The Pats Franchise: Brady's back and only a little rust away from his old form; the front office looks like it didn't miss a beat post Pioli as this year's draft looks mighty fine.

The only caution I would have is not to jump to conclusions on Maroney. From the couple of clips I saw, there was a lot of backfield penetration and missed blocks on more than one of his runs. Let's wait a bit and leave this call to BB.

I like your thinking.

Winners-Patriots
Losers-Rest of NFL

Keeps things simple :D

Thats pretty typical of the Maroney Bashers.

Brady isn't tipping off the snap when he starts lifting then stomping his right foot?

One name I haven't seen come up is Richardson. He was in on a few tackles on special teams - not getting down there at the point of attack so much as making the play after the downfield guys got beat. Looked better to me than our hyped special-team specialists, although he did get beat on the quick hitter to the slot receiver, by having his head turned the wrong way.

Yeah, and he actually made them, without dropping them, which already puts him one-up on Watson...

Watson does drop balls in the open field. I have great confidence in him in the end zone though, because he has snagged some almost uncatchable balls there.

What does that tell you? It means he has concentration problems.

Brady - Did not appear skiddish about the knee. The O-line did a good job keeping him clean.

Nice pun on the word "skittish." You get the pun plus a reference to skid marks, Brady kept his cool, never soiled himself.

Synovia, you need to check yourself. Did I mention Maroney in my post? Am I a Maroney basher? I love how thin-skinned people get when someone simply mentions a player other than their binky. Your'e the opne with the bias, dude, not me.

But since you brought it up, let me laugh at you for suggesting that Brady is like Walter when it comes to keeping the defense off balance. Just absolutely laughable.

Kevin O'Connell - Why are you not the #2 QB. Andrew Walter is not the answer as back up QB at least not yet. How have you dropped to #3

I wonder if BB was simply testing Walter and O'Connell, giving them situations to see how they deal with them.

1)OL was bad for the first quater , also the eagles DL was fresh and in the first quater they were doing a good job.Maroney was touched behind the LOS but ran strong .

2)Baker looked good against the Backup LB in coverage. People ignore that their D had some injuries and decided to sit their best LB. Baker was cover by 2nd and 3rd string guys.

3)Sanders had a good game he was steady as few runs broke into the backfield and his coverage not that bad.Playinig some rookie DL might have been the issue.

4)Mayo looked good but mayo and guton gave up some bulk to the gaurds which lead to some successfull inside runs. Bru was missed in early downs.

5)Eric alexander hit a RB who bounced and ran 5 yds for a TD.He was in great coverage yet did not have the mental clock tell him to look back with the TE arm going up to catch. Weird he looked faster/bigger then before .I would like to see him play at the LOS in guyton role in early downs.

6)Pass rush was very good. With no game plan it was 1 on 1 pass rush we were generating some. IN a real game with some game plan i am sure the containment failed runs will not happen.

7)Tully looked better but again MLB mass loss mean the gaurds and tackle were bullozing him on some run plays. A heavier MLB might have helped.

8)Whittle is starting material.

"Whittle"? Is this the Soul Train scramble board?

WINNERS
Baker - we got what we expected and more (the Watson to Philly rumors should start)
Banta-Cain - yes he really can play OLB in for this team
Edleman - are you kidding!
Pryor - 1st string!
Guyton - progressing as hoped
Thomas - finding a utility role as a FB
Chung - a fine special teamer, and ready to backup at safety
Wilhite - a starter as Belichick has been telling us

LOSERS
Galloway - aweful
Lewis - Edleman passed him in practice and now on the Game Day depth charts
Smith - now behind Pryor
Wheatley - he looked like more of a rookie that Butler (who was OK for a rook)

Patrick Chung- I haven't been as excited about a player in a long time. You can see his high energy and he's around almost every play. I really hope he is a starter sooner than later. He looked poised and confident, and still showed his skillset while playing with the overmatched second/third stringers.
.

Its true, he's around the ball almost every play. Similiar to what Bob Sanders and Palumalu do, very explosive, and I can see somewhat a "warrior-like" trait to what Seau has. Can't wait to see more next week!

You were responding to a post about Maroney, so you didn't need to directly mention him. Thats how conversation works. . Whats laughable is that every time Morris gets stuffed, its not his fault.

I didn't say Brady was like Walter, I said Brady makes some movements about a half second before every snap, and he does. He lifts his right foot and stomps it. Cassel does the same thing.

Don't mind him, he hates Brady and loves Matt Cassel.

While I am a Maroney defender, the idea of Brady not keeping the defense off balance is about the most laughable thing I've ever heard. If anything, it is on Maroney - he hasn't shown the ability to be a pass-catching threat or pass-block effectively. The defense does know he's more likely to get the ball when he comes in. I think he's a very good RB, but he needs to develop those areas of the game so that he can be used in more versatile ways and keep the defense off balance.

When Faulk comes in, he can rip off a draw play for 10 yards b/c the defense knows he can play in every phase. If it had to do with Brady or the coordinator, then Faulk would not have said success.

Which is funny, because its not something I said. Nice strawman guys.

That's fine, but this wouldn't have been the first time you've shown irrational negative feelings against Tom Brady. You only started posting on this forum when Matt Cassel became the starter, and you lobbied to cut Brady in favor of Cassel.

Maroney had 22 catches as the #2 RB during his rookie season.

I'm pretty confident that Galloway will come around, even though he had a bad night yesterday.

This defense has the potential to be pretty nasty. Pryor was a big positive surprise. LeKevin didn't seem to play that well, though.

Bodden was a little disappointing. Didn't make a huge impression. I was looking for more given the early reports out of camp.

Edelmann was electrifying, but I am not going to get too excited yet. If he's still playing like that in preseason game 3, then we may just have hit the jackpot.

I am probably most excited about Sea Bass.
