Who takes over as a starting CB now?

Gay and Hobbs Scott and James at Nickel.

Asante will play.
If not- Gay and Hobbs as starters but I'm sure we'll see many other packages.

As long as he stays healthy, I have no problem starting Gay across from Hobbs. I think Hobbs will be better this year than Samuel was in 2004, and I also think Gay is a fine CB.

Frankly, it won't even matter unless the safeties stay healthy, and recent history makes it seem as if that might be asking a lot.

Hobbs and Chad Scott.........you guys should know better then that. That question was too easy. Geno and Rodney at safety and you will see Atrell as the 3rd safety with Merriweather here and there early on. Gay will play the slot.

I think a lot of people are downplaying James's ability. He's been productive as a starter recently and I think will have the upper hand over Gay/Scott (at least initially). I can't even remember the last time Gay started a game.

The five serious contenders for starting jobs are Harrison, Hobbs, Wilson, Meriweather, and Gay. So I'd say the starting four come from them.

The rookie starts out sitting.

Those five are the leading contenders for the nickel package, with Scott also being in the mix.
