I wanna know how a guy who lives in a 3.4 million dollar home and is the bond underwriting chief of Morgan Stanley only pays $10,000.00 in taxes.

Morgan Stanley Executive Charged in Cab Hate Crime Attack - Bloomberg

The banker then fled the cab but he turned himself in two weeks later after he returned from a vacation in Florida.

It's probably his parent's fault for screwing around with his name so badly. I mean, who'd DO that to a kid???

I think I know this guy...

Anyway... to answer your question, maybe the $10k is local taxes, or property taxes, or the ramblings of a drunk man? I'm sure he paid far more than that in income tax.

Sure crucify him on a cross of his own gold.

Can he claim the latent-rage-from-bizarre-parental-naming-choice defense? I mean if a twinkie can make you kill someone, you know that name can turn you into a raging butthole.

Or maybe he takes the majority of his salary in tax deferred stocks or something? Or shoves it all into tax shelters or off shore accounts?

Possibly, but none of that's very easily done. While some people certainly do it, most people I know who are very wealthy don't push it -- attitude more often is that they don't want to risk having real problems. After all, life is pretty good, so the attitude usually is to use their money to make problems go away (not the reverse).

    Small potatoes.
I would think you people would be more concerned about the Jeff Immelt,GE, Barack Obama connection.

Yeah, he says he was kidnapped. (In spite of the fact that there are tapes and witnesses who show him stopping at a deli and buying food while the cab driver waits for him to get back in.) He also says he was attacked by the cab driver, although the police report says it would have been impossible for the cab driver to have been injured in the manner he was hurt had the "attack" occured as Mr. Jennings said it did. Mr. Jennings also said he didn't report the kidnapping or assault because the cab driver knew where he lived. He went on a 2 week vacation to Florida. The cab driver went and got60 stitches in his hand.

    Read the article.

If it bothers you, start a thread about it. Otherwise, please stick to the topic at hand.

    BTW, what is "you people?"

Funny, you care about the (alleged) perpetrator's side of the story when it's a white male... Never hear you asking about their side of the story when you're starting threads about blacks who are apparently engaged in criminal activity.

    Why is that, harry?

He ( Jennings..Bryan whatever) probably meant that he pays $10K in property taxes ( which would be VERY cheap for a $3.4 million property) while the cabbie pays nothing being an out of towner so the city cops will favor the banker........

It's predictable that he'll blame it on the alcohol and go into rehab in 5..4..3...2...1......

It goes back to the 1992 Presidential campaign when Ross Perot was speaking to the NAACP and used the term, " you people" to the audience and it was viewed as condescending, or at best insensitive with a racial connotation, even if it wasn't intended.
It's a slur in the sense that it casts a generalization of all of one group doing whatever the act alleged is to be...

Poor guy bought the house for $3.6 million, tried to sell it for $4 million and now it's only worth $2.6 million, according to zillow.com..Oh and his property taxes are $2600 per month or $30K per year........

$200 for a 40 mile trip is nearly double.

This guy makes prolly 200k a year yet he's stupid enough to stab the guy driving the car he's in?

I'll bet he makes a whole lot more than $200,000.00 a year.
