Will Romeo be canned?

If the Giants get Pioli the fans will be so thrilled that he will get carte blanche for a year. Romeo never had a chance in Cleveland, that organization has been too bad for too long. The Giants aren't as far away and Romeo could succeed.

Pioli would have to be stupid to go to the Giants. He's got it made here.

And Scott Pioli is not a stupid man.

Romeo to the jets makes a lot of sense.

It would take an enormous amount of pride swallowing on Romeo's part. It was not even 2 years ago Romeo was offering Mangini a spot as his DC.

Teams are meant to be successful in New York. The media is not setup for it.

The Yankees have won 26 championships, and a bunch coming under Steinbrenner, yet when the Red Sox win one the fans an media are calling for Steinbrenner to step down. Old George felt so much pressure that he has to throw more money than usually at guys like Randy Johnson and Carl Pavano to try to keep the media happy. And look what that has got them.

The media in NY is just to critical for a team to really be successful there. They have the power to create complete mayhem with whatever they print. I mean some guy in the Pst prints about how the team should get BB and SP and people start freaking out like it's going to happen. No one can be successful under that scrutiny.

I never thought of it this way. If he came back to NE he would have a hero's welcome. It would be a weird thing going to the J-E-T-S Jets. Mangini is having a super year and you never know what could happen if they make the playoffs. Sometimes weird things happen (ie snowbowl).

I would hate to see Romeo in NY. Whether you like Mangini or not, that would be one ugly defense to take on within a year or two. Playing them 2x a year would be much tougher if Romeo were there. No thanks.

Even worse, what if Rivera gets HC with the Pit Squeelers and he brings in Romeo to run the def. Even more reason to hate them because they already have the 3-4 personnel there. No need to acquire people, that def. would be great now.

Here in Dallas, we are HOPING that Tuna hires Crenell to coach the 3-4.

But he likely won't b/c he prefers one of his chronies instead.:(

The Browns would be stupid to can Crennel. The Browns are like the Jets last year....put a good qb on the team that will make some plays andnot turn the ball over and the Browns will start winning. They have alot of talent in place not to mention they lost their starting center week one of training camp.

Browns | Savage insists Crennel will coach the team in 2007
Sat, 30 Dec 2006 19:18:17 -0800

Terry Pluto, of the Akron Beacon Journal, reports Cleveland Browns general manager Phil Savage insists head coach Romeo Crennel will be back with the team in 2007. However, Crennel might need to let go of some of his staff in order to stick around. Crennel is also on thin ice because of his inability to deal with WR Braylon Edwards.

So Savage says he is not going anywhere. Imagine that a NFL HC having trouble dealing with a WR? Boy that never happens.

Savage (who BTW used to be an assistant coach under BB back in the Cleveland days) was only hired two years ago, so he may be safe.

Everyone seems to want instant answers. It would be a great shame to can a guy with RAC's potential after just two seasons. Some people aren't cut out to be Head Coaches, but I would say that he could make a great one and they should stick with him.

I agree. He's already changed the culture of the team. He just needs a solid qb who at the very minimum manages the game.
