Elmo ... my favorite ... along with Count and Grover.
This story will get overblown and once again show gay people fighting for equality.

I would have preferred it be Big Bird ... he is annoying - the show needs to lose him.

Yeah, but it would have meant that Mitt had inside information... better to just let that part of Republican history die.

I've worked with Kevin on a few projects, he is the model of professionalism, so this is a little difficult to believe. Having said that, I don't REALLY know him outside of a few work related situations. Its a shame that he is being accused like this. Innocent until proven guilty.

There's some Elmo toy out this year... I don't think sales will be high

I don't know Elmo, but thus far what we've got is an accusation as I understand it, not a big steaming mound of evidence.

If he is innocent then it has already been overblown since no innocent man should be publicly accused of such a horrible crime.

If he's guilty, then I have no problem with him being labelled a child molestor in every outlet imaginable.

I told Elmo that no good would come of his relationship with Mr Noodle but he just wouldn't listen.

    Well well well...

dude is taking back his story

This is real crappy to do to someone who is an icon for children...I hope "The street" welcomes him back, and america gets back to the positive image that Elmo creates for children (even if its annoying to parents)

If I were Kevin, I'd see this fool in court, and take him for everything he is worth (which is obviously not much morally)

Elmo is the least interesting muppet of all the Muppets.

Not that I want the guy to have his life ruined, but I wouldn't shed a tear if Elmo the character vanished.

    Depends on your buisness...

If educating children is considered a bad thing, or in Elmo's case, if teaching kids that Love is a great thing...Then I'm all for it. Profit AWAY!

I get it, you could care less....Makes you a 'groutch'. I wish there was a character that was a hater like that...

didn't realize that elmo was the only way....... the whole notion of needing TV to teach love is disturbing to say the least.

I'm not a grouch.......just never needed TV as a shining light for my kids

He isn't the only way, he is the way Sesame Street does it, and for a lot of families across the US who don't have access to a lot of educational content, sadly, Television DOES raise some children to some extent. The more positivity the better.

I'm sure you'd be willing to throw the kids in front of Sesame Street as opposed to a lot of other programming while you cleaned the bathroom, or Cooked dinner, or did some laundry, or changed some diapers, etc...

TV isn't a "shining light" but quality educational programming is a good thing. Elmo is a positive figure for children, no matter how much you hate him, and the children's television workshop for some strange reason.

Might wanna take a lesson from the subject at hand.

I gave you a like but I must be honest ... my daughter now 26 loved Sesame Street and liked the ones I like Elmo, Grover and count. My son 25 and my youngest 13 never cared for it. In fact my 25 year old grew up loving Luny Tunes. :p:p:p

Congrats! I really consider parenting to be the #1 thing you can do....I give you all the props in the world. But you need to think about everyone ELSE and their needs that are served by public broadcasting and/or the other media outlets that are available to an ever growing tech aspect to the youth of today.

I may not know as much about parenting as you (for THIS week at least, NEXT week we can talk tacos) but I do know about educational content, and the media. Its my job.

Oh man....yeah, tell me about it

I was an Electric Company, Zoom, 3-2-1 Contact, and You cant do that on Television kid. My older brother was on OTHER stuff, and he is only 13 months older. Each year brings new and different licenses to Kids. Some stick and some dont.

Its something that we in the media are always looking to capture, because as you know, being off by a year, or if something is trending male and female is difficult to track to a quickly evolving generation...and each generation is different. Marketing to that demographic is about as tricky as it gets. Its a moving target. By "Marketing" I don't mean "selling", I mean "teaching".

Thats why when something like Elmo comes along, it needs to be respected, praised and pushed out. Dude caught lightning in a bottle, and the message is positive.

But the rhyme or reason for it is still a mystery.

I've always gave credit to the voice ...

The voice for Elmo is incredible ... perfect for a kid's attention.
It's light and easy(non threatening) and a bit squeaky but yet it's clear and concise ... perfect.

no I don't........I think public TV is something whose time has come and gone. There are better ways to mentor you chidren and facilitate their growth....I will say years ago that public TV was the best option for outside stimulus, but not now. the fictional freaky looking character thing is old hat that needs to be tossed aside. zero interactivity (which is what TV's do) is a waste of time....even more so with things like ipads around....even the other interactive stuff like leapads.......anything that makes the kid do something

everything on TV is a crutch......meant to be limited......parenting, parenting, parenting.

My kids had very limited TV when they were little. We have never had video games and I remembered parents being shocked we didn't have XBox and then wondered how we did it. How bout doing stuff like fishing, canoeing, playing ball or hiking? How bout talking to them or just messing around in the yard? Even a trip to the mall is better than TV.
