Just herd this on PTI. Over Brady, Manning and Brees and anyone else. He wants Ben to lead his team. I almost fell over in my chair.

Football-wise, Wilbon is an idiot; he works hard to earn and keep that designation.

Media-wise, tho, he's no dummy. What better thing to say to garner attention and get people talking about him on the day of the Season Opener in Pittsburgh than to put Big Ben numero uno over two QB's who are definitely going to Canton?

We can only hope Brady will put up an 18 TD, 15 INT season.

Yes because CLEARLY the Steelers were the best team in football last year, I mean who else could survive a playoff run against teams with 8-8 (without LT), 11-5 (with a rookie QB), and 9-7 (statistically the WORST defense to reach the superbowl) records

We are absolutely fugging doomed if Brady has a "Big Ben-like" season this year. Doooooooooomed.

The Steelers deserve some ballwashing since they are the champs, but this is completely absurd.

I'm so effin sick of hearing about that team already. Since I live in PA, half of my facebook newsfeed is people who won't shutup about the Steelers and the SB just because they play tonight.

Even my manager at work was talking about how he thought Ben (among many more) was better than Brady. He basically went on to say that he thought Brady was overrated, had no natural gifts, could not escape the rush, and had no work ethic. He said that you could plug anyone into the Patriots system and that person would succeed. To each his own, I guess.

I feel bad for people who can't appreciate greatness, especially for their own team. WTF.

It's funny. If the Patriots stop the Giants on the last drive of SB 42, Brady is the greatest ever, bar none. Outside of his control, they allow the Giants to win. We're talking about a guy who was about to be crowned the greatest ever over Montana, Elway, Marino, etc. Now, a year later, idiots like Wilbon have a such a short-term memory that he's no longer better than a guy whose thrown for 3500 yards one time in a season, and who has 1 TD pass and 3 INTs in 2 SB appearances.

I can't wait for the season to begin... I think everyone is underestimating just how good Brady is.

DON'T EVER LISTEN TO ANYTHING WILBON SAYS ABOUT ANY BOSTON TEAM. He hates the city and their fans and he has written and spoke about why he will always have ill feelings toward their teams. He was called the "n-word" while at a basketball game at the Boston Garden many years ago when he was with his wife (I believe it happened in the early 80's). He said the crowd was so vicious and racist toward him, it was the only time he feared for his life at a sporting event. He even went on one of Bill Simmons' podcasts a year ago and admitted that he never got over it (even though he believes the city has changed) and still has a bias against the Boston. He admits that he hates the "Sawx" and called Belichick a "classless punk" two years ago after NE pounded his buddy Joe Gibbs. I like Wilbon as a writer and I like him on PTI, but I ignore any opinion he has when dealing with Boston, their teams, and their fans.

Oh believe me when I say I stopped just shy of saying the same thing to his face. Honestly, the conversation lasted a good hour, most of which I spent listening to him go on and on about how many QB's he'd take over Brady. I asked him what he would feel if his team's QB didn't pan out or went down and the they decided to grab Brady, and he told me that he'd stop liking them. Seriously?

All I ever needed to know about Wilbon occurred last year when, before Brady got hurt, he stated that without Brady, the Patriots were the Kansas City Chiefs. And that's pretty close, if not spot on, verbatim.

I think the Cassel-led Patriots would have run that table.
Problem is they werent handed that path they earned it, partly by beating us.

And in addition, if you go back to just before the start of the '08 season - that is, before Pollard's hit on Brady - Wilbon predicted the Pats to go 9-7.

But hey, if it creates controversy and stirs up debate, then you're likely to find it on espn - and repeated on messageboards across the country.
