    Atheism isn't really a "belief". It's more a non-belief than anything.

So atheism and atheist will never qualify as a religion Harry.

I disagree about atheism not being a "belief." It is the belief that there is no God. Being agnostic is really having no beliefs. Agnosticism is the admission that its just all way the heck too complicated for our puny human brains to comprehend.

Atheists, meanwhile, are just as eager to impose their beliefs on others as any other mainstream religion.

You kinda proved my point wolfie. A belief rooted in the rejection of others' beliefs isn't really a belief.

If religion didn't exist, neither would atheism. Or we'd all be atheists....we just wouldn't call it atheism.

I see it differently, of course. PR's right. The absence of something doesn't mean there is something else there to replace. It's like when I explain what cold is to one of my kids. My daughter asked me once after we were talking about heat and what causes it, "Where does cold come from"? I said "There really isn't any cold. It's just the lack of heat. Kinda like the dark is a lack of light and empty means there isn't anything in it". "Ohhhhhhhh!"

But that isn't what I said. I said they believe there is no God. There are other relgiions believe there is no God as well and basically, by definition, every religion rejects other religions' beliefs.

There Is Something This All Didn't Just Happen The Whole Universe Didn't Start With A Bang It Was Planned Then Created.

A Big Bang Could Not Make A Bug Turn Into A Butterfly

A big Bang Could Not Dream Up Copulation As A Means Of Reproduction

A Big Bang Could Not Dream Up Drinking and Eating Then Urinating And Bowel Movements To Get Rid Of It

Why Do We All (animals bugs fish and fowl) All Have Legs, Eyes and Mouth.
We Will Never know Because IT Doesn't Want Us To Know.

I am agnostic (I think) I don't believe in organized religion or the crap they pump out. I do not believe the religious tomes that most religions follow are the words of God. But, I don't discount the possibility of a higher being.

But, if you say there has to be a higher being to have planned everything then that higher being must be much more complex than we or the universe is. So, then the question is how did the higher being come to be? Someone/thing had to make the higher being and if someone/thing made the higher being then someone/thing had to make the maker of the higher being...

That has always puzzled me, you can stop the Big Bang Scientest dead in his tracks by simply asking him "what caused the big bang"

Whatever it was that created us what created them...........

I have tried that with religious folks ;) They say what created the big bang? Then I ask well, what created God, and they reply that he just is... You can't argue against that or even really have a discussion.

I think we can all get along though. Just quote Devo: "God made man but a monkey supplied the glue" I hope I got that quote right.

Well God had to come before the Big Bang ...

Makes no sense because where did God reside and of course who created God.

The only thing that makes sense is God/Jesus were aliens from another universe. It does not explain the Big Bang but it at least is a plausible explanation for God.

Yes, but every religion believes in something. Even if you believe in the power of Nature, it's still a belief in something important to you.

Not believing in any higher power isn't a belief, it's the rejection of other's beliefs. And I'm not saying there's anything wrong with Atheism. To believe or not believe isn't a question of whether one is capable of believing (faith), it's a question of whether one chooses to believe.

Everyone is capable of believing or not believing.

One of the best parts of faith to me is that one doesn't need to understand in order to believe. God doesn't need to make sense to us otherwise we wouldn't call it "Faith".

    Deep sheeit, huh?
