Exactly, they should have learned from the Arizona game. It seems that this team changes their gameplan when they have a lead. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers last night played the whole game the same way - with the pedal to the metal - until the game was won. They didnt change at all when they had a big lead. Thats how you finish a football game.

Everyone is blaming the weak secondary for this loss. Lets face it, the defense is a weakness and the offense is a strength. Its the offense that didnt get the job done when they needed to. Their late passivity on offense in games is troubling and must be corrected.

Also, we need to value our time outs more. No excuse for not having them when we need them.

That 46 yard bomb was just as much on whoever decided a 43 base cover 2 was a good coverage call in that situation.

It was probably the WORST play calling I've seen the Patriots make since I've been a fan.

Kind of disgusted still. I'll leave it at that.

I'd like to see Brady and mcdaniels stop worrying about putting 30+ up a game.

4th Quarter up 10 points and in the redzone, Bleed the clock! we are up 2 scores, run it three times, kick the field goal. instead we had a redzone int a 10 point shift(losing 3 from the FG, seahawks td) and ultimately lost by less then a fieldgoal.

In retrospect I agree. At the time however, I felt a far better play was to go for a TD and go up by 3 scores.

    Ofcourse it makes sense.

The DBs are only practicing against 5-20 yard routes all week. When someone throws a 50 yard bomb in a game, they are unprepared.

Ebner is a former Rugby player and a STer for this team, not an NFL Safety

I realize injuries played a key but you pretty much lost the game before the snap when you have two rookies trying to contain a speedy veteran receiver.

Why they didn't call for a full all out blitz in that situation is beyond me....it wouldn't have hurt.

Rich man's Chad Pennington. Its why against a good defense, when they pack the middle of the field, Brady is done. There is a reason why we have not won a Superbowl in 8 years, and that reason is not Tavon Wilson.

    it's all BS

the pats lost this game because it is clear they can't hold a multi-score lead late in the game:
    - blew a 9 point lead in 9 min to the ravens
    - blew a 13 point lead in 6 min to the seahawks

this is the current blueprint of this team

this is a real bad combination of their defense and mcdaniel play calling.

some philosophical changes need to be made by the coaching staff, or else we can just assume that opponents have a 50/50 chance of coming back from being down multiple score to the pats.......all they have to do is throw it up there enough times and something will happen.

russell freaking wilson and kevin freaking kolb.....judas priest

That was the correct Defense for the situation.
Hawks had Lynch and a run blocker in the Back field.
It was 1st and 10 and it sure looked like a run.
The TE moved to right and there were 2 Wide outs
Pats has 2 CB's and 2 Safeties on 2 WR. That should have been good.

It was a well designed Play to take advantage of the way PATs play defense.

At the snap the RB and Blocker went left and Wilson faked a hand off.
That kept DMC from staying with the WR as he was thinking cut back and
needed to provide run support on back side as two of the LB bit on the
    fake.
The RB and blocker sealed off the rush and Wilson was all by himself.
By the time it was to determined to be a pass the TE has Cunningham
blocked and two of the original pass protectors on the left dropped back to
protect from LB penetration with PATs two right rushers neutralized.
Wilson had 5 seconds to do his thing.
Inexperienced Tevon bit on a fake to the outside by the WR and couldn't
recover enough to catch the streaking WR down the middle.
    Result : Game winning TD

My roster issues...in no specific order

    1) The lack of deep threat. Yes Brady connected with Welker and Fells....but how often can Brady arc it over DBs to midget WRs....or pinpoint it to the team's 3rd TE. Lloyd has shown he is a possession guy....great hands but hits the turf after every catch. Yes the Pats create matchup problems because of quickness (WRs) and size (TEs), but teams don't need to worry about deep speed and Seattle was able to condense their defensive territory as the game progressed.

    2) I'm on record multiple times over the past few years that the lack of speed at WR and deep ball patterns has hurt our DBs during practice time. ...as the OP states. WRs that specialize in the deep patterns....Vincent Jackson, Rice, Smith just own New England. Expect Moss to get a start when SF comes to town....why wouldn't they. The worst deep ball DBs in the league

    3) The D still ignores RBs releasing out of the backfield. This is called the HOPE strategy. We hope the QB doesn't see the wide open RB. The TE too often gets lost in the shuffle as well. I loved the Hightower pick at the time....but when healthy, our 3 starting LBs are slow.....too slow??

    4) If Scarnachia is considered the OL guru of the NFL, who is the DB guru? And can we hire this guy....TODAY. WTF is going on. Is being a NE DB a career killer? Two certainies occur as a NE DB. Your play will regress year over year and you will be looking at minimum wage 2nd contracts wherever you wind up. Rah
I thought the point with drafting the quick DB was so our guys can stick like glue through the WR cut moves. What do they do well. They lose the hand battles at the line or don't even bother. They get juked out of position. They lack make up speed. And they seem out of position too often.
Why did the DB allow the WR a free release on the last Seattle TD. The WR was the only player on that side of the field. The DB released his WR and then covered empty space as our rookie Safeties were biting on the WR's first move......mind numbing execution on NE's part

I love how they all bit on the play action on that last bomb for the TD. 1 minute and change on the clock, on the 50 yard line, and they bite on a fake run. REALLY....you really think they are running??

Maybe next time there is 6 seconds on the clock...with no time outs right before halftime they will KICK the FG.
