And just so there's no doubt about Ms. Walsh and her politics, this is from her wikipedia page:

    Black Brains & White Brains-----
Is this Racist whack job a fit man to be the Spiritual Advisor to a President of the USA?

    News Today:
But it was when Wright began (ahem) “explaining” his theory of black brain evolution (right brained, subject oriented) vs. white brain evolution (left brained cognitive object oriented) that I reached head-shaking astonishment.

Why are people taking this nut seriously?

“Black brains vs. white brains?” Even the boys in the Aryan Nations compound are snickering about that one.

The man clearly needs his meds. So why haven’t Democrats denounced him? Why hasn’t someone gone to Obama and said, “Look, pal, it’s time to put the ‘past’ in ‘pastor’ and dump this guy. You threw your own grandmother under the bus, so there’s room for Wright under there, too.”

For awhile, it looked like Obama might get away with his lame excuse of innocence by absenteeism. “I never really heard him say these crazy things.”

But that’s no longer operable, as they so, because the more Wright talks, the more it becomes self-evident that he’s a few altos short of a choir.

Twenty years, and you never noticed he’s a nut? Please. Wright can’t go 20 minutes without reaching for the tinfoil hat.

It's all a political feint and people need to understand that. Unfortunately they will not because they still have enough faith in American news reporting (ha!) to let the smear stick (Clinton). The point is not Wright, it's to tear down Obama regardless, even if he is only tangentially related to Wright.

And anybody who refuses to believe that certain factions of the American government gleefully screw anybody over they please so long as it suits their purposes after the last 8 (more like 40) years needs a reality check.

Placed in the appropriate context, Wright's speech is absolutely correct, and it certainly reflects the viewpoint of a large part of the African American community (listen to hip-hop for the last 15 years?). It's very dangerous stuff, though, to those who stand to lose by such opinions gaining ground. So while the opportunity to smear Obama is priceless, the opportunity to quash the idea that government should actually, you know, help people, is too good to pass up.

The game being played is not the game you think it is.

The thing that is confusing is, Why is Wright doing this, he's destroying Obama, if I didn't know better I'd say he was working for the Clintons (maybe he is)

And your post has what to do with a piece by a liberal who watched Wright and cringed?

    Who is the government there?

It's a good question. I assume he spoke with Obama about it and was given his blessing. If so, then the idea must be to get the word out and stand up for yourself. Remember, at their core, these are very populist ideas in the context of a nation with very divided economically. There's the chance it catches on, regardless of what the media tells people to think.

Also, let's be clear, it's not Wright who is destroying Obama with it, it's the media. They're setting the issues table, and it's embarrassing. Health care, anybody? Gas prices? Nonsense war? The residing president who lies repeatedly and supports intelligent design? No, let's talk about the man who dared suggest that our government is screwing the people.

Would it be an issue if the republican went to Klan meetings for 20 years, but disagreed with the grand wizard? The guy would of been run out of the race before it even started. The media is giving Obama a pss on this. Disgusting.

LOL at Klan meeting. An appeal to emotion, an invalid analogy, and a feint. If I had to guess, it's a method of discourse all learned from TV/radio news. And "disgusting"? Media giving Obama a pass? Wow. That's certainly not based in reality.

I think I'm going to walk away from this one except to say that you may want to think more carefully about how you formulate your political analysis, if only for your own sake. The more you think ....

Spin Wright's racism all you want, and the fact that he is associated with a person running for the POTUS.

Should the Media just ignore this racist bastard.

Wright is making the news, the Media is reporting it.

Talking about Gas Prices etc, etc, your right these things should be talked about, those grinning hand clapping clowns that want to be President should be talking about them.

WRIGHT IS THE ONE CREATING ALL THIS SH!T NOT THE MEDIA, PRINCE BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA SHOULD TELL WRIGHT TO SHUT HIS F-CKING MOUTH, PRINCE BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA SHOULD HOLD A NEWS CONFERENCE AND CONDEM THE RACIST HATER BASTARD WRIGHT (don't hold your breath Obama has been listening to Wrights sh!t for 20 years and has said nothing, he must agree with him)

The fascination with Wright continues, guess that is good for this board as there are three open threads on this page alone.. if the moderator of this forum was doing his job they would be all merged.. and encaptioned "Right Wing Circle Jerk Here".. then you can debate Wright ad infinitum.. all the while our economy is in the crapper, gas is out of control, oil companies are making huge profits and the fraud in Iraq is rampant.. but for some reason Wright is the real issue.. nothing like a bunch of older white anonymous guys discussing race..

When you control the news you control the debate and, to a certain extent, the people. Reverend Wright is a crystallization of this idea.

The Wright issue is symptomatic of racism on the right. They milk to death every story they can about black ministers. It's their way of playing the race card which has served them so well in electoral politics. Sure, Wright has said some stupid things, but so has Robertson, Falwell, Hagee, and other white right ministers, but of course you cannot as easily attack white ministers as you can black ones. The right has not rested in its attempts to link Obama to Muslims by spreading lies about his religion, his schooling, and using his middle name in calculated ways. Now, they are trying to link him to black nationalism. Those racist elements of right, however, may be creating their own demise should Obama succeed in building a coalition with blacks, Latinos, and liberals whites. Should Obama win the nomination, I think the way to undercut the bigoted right wing is to nominate Richardson as his VP.

Dude...Joan Walsh wrote that piece for Salon.com two days ago. Wright was on...was it Friday night?
That makes it topical, doesn't it?

And since a man is known by the company he keeps, it helps us know more about Obama, doesn't it?

How can Wright be so far down on the list when it's a huge symptom? Look at it this way: every time anything remotely connected to 'black/white' comes up, liberals (like Patters) start hopping up and down screaming racism. Meanwhile, black men are still killing each other in obscene numbers, are still being jailed in obscene numbers, and there are now 2-3 generations of young people being born without solid families. For every black kid that makes it (whatever that means) there are thousands more that wind up in prison or dead. Obviously something is very very wrong with the picture--but no one can talk about it because to talk about it is to invite people (like Patters) to hop up and down and start playing the race card.

Look at one of Wright's quotes, where he calls the Secretary of State "Condoskeeza Rice". Now...it's fine if he doesn't agree with her politics. I don't agree with her a lot of the time either in the last few years (a whole 'nother issue, lol). But if he's going to complain about race in America (Amerikkka...US of KKKA) then shouldn't he be able to point to Rice and Powell and Thomas and Mike Steele and Lynn Swann etc etc as examples of how things are not only changing but what's possible? Instead, we get "Condoskeeza" and "Uncle Tom" (Thomas).
