Stem Cell Procedure In China A Success For Local Girl
JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Just back after 34 days in China, six-year-old Rylee Lovett is already seeing things differently.
She left for the trip nearly blind but now, "Just after 4-and-a-half weeks we were there it's showing signs of improving," says Rylee's mom Shayla Lovett.

The issue is with embryonic stem cells. The idea is that using cells from abortions would in essence be a means of encouraging the practice. If you believe that life begins at conception, which PC hasn't yet decided if it does, then you'd understand what the problem is. Embryonic are old news anyhow, since new break throughs with adult cell reprograming is proving to be the future.

I guess I mean more about your anti-Bush stance of late. Not religion.

What are you talking about the only stem cell research that is at all constrained is federal funding using new embroyonic stam cell lines, states are funding stem cell research using new embroyonic lines as are private corps. An activity doesn't have to be funded by the Federal Gov to happen.

RW is right however the best results have not come from research using embroyonic stem cell it has come from other stem cells, adult, placental, nucus membrane...

BTW the article doesn't specify what types of stem cells are being used for this procedure. Are they in fact embroyonic? So far the only results produced by embroyonic stem cells are cancerous tumors.

Denial of what wes? The issue is federal funding of embryonic stem cells. You keep linking articles from years past. Maybe it's you that needs to get up to speed on the most recent advances in stem cell research. The latest development is reprograming adult stem cells. You should look it up and check it out.

The first article makes exactly the point I am making the Chinese treated the kid with umbilical stem cells not embroyonic stem cell. Thanks for making my point.:bricks:

One more time , Wake up Sheeple !

"As South Korea, Great Britain, Japan, Germany, India and other countries rapidly pioneer this new technological frontier, the US is being left farther and farther behind in medical technology.
The US is also losing out on billions in new economic opportunities at a time when our country sorely needs new sources of revenues."

Well in all the cases you cite NONE involve embroyonic stem cells, a little slow are we? Or do you not read the articles you cite?

Imagine where we might be if we'd invested in Embryonic Stem Cells instead of just tossing them in the garbage? Heck that kid might have been on Dancing with the Stars by now. Instead, the Bible somehow clearly tells some of us not to do this even though it was written 2000 years ago and so the chief means of funding this potentially groundbreaking technology is cut off and we're a mile behind China of all places.

Bingo. Some people are too consumed with a get Bush mentality that they lose cite of logic.

Maybe you missed the part i where the Chinese didn't use embryonic stem cells to treat this girl.

What i missed is the part where an explanation is given as to why your invisible man in the sky should get to decide where research money is spent instead of doctors.

Actually scratch that. The invisible man in the sky has not been quoted reliably on this topic. We're denying this potentially groundbreaking tech the funding it needs because somebody thinks the invisible guy in the sky might not approve.

God works in mysterious ways right? Well what if his opinion on using these Embryos to heal one of his children ain't quite what the Evangelicals think? Wouldn't that suck?
