good article, but Bush and preceding presidents can be blamed for not have foresight into alternatives or anticipating the well would start to run thin literally. The reaction to the crisis has been typical govt all around with bickering and roadblocking by parties.

that's the problem with our country a little bit, despite their ability to maintain balance, is that the parties bicker way too much. it's actually like this board.

That's why I laugh when people think there's one simple solution - like banning speculation, that was funny. The price of gas in European countries, though, is kind of disingenuous as gas is HIGHLY taxed.

Nothing about ANWR. And the sloppy reporting of how much more people in other countries pay for gas with NO MENTION of the fact that is mostly taxes. Taxes which we pay just not at the pump. People who come to MA for the first time say "what the hell is excise tax.".

the real reason which that article or diagram you posted doesn't mention is globalization. i'm a republican and all but am against globalization. our companies are spending so much money overseas in China and India, it's making the chinese and indians wealthier. people there are having so much wealth you would not believe it. with chinese and indians wealthier, the demand for oil goes up. the demand for oil goes, the price of gas goes up over here. the solution is to stop globalization and tax companies heavily that invest in China and india. put an end to free trade - we don't benefit one iota while foreigners do.

guess what... how do you stop globalization?

suddenly that cheap fan or drill you buy isn't 20 bucks...it's 80.

china has pretty much slave labor that's why they're growing so much

Good article overall IMO. I do feel they choose to ignore the oil finds we have chosen not to develop.
