Especially comparatively when you watch how often Brady was harrassed (by our OL, which by most accounts is fairly good... although Vollmer was brutal, but that's another story lol).didnt Andre Carter...actually sack Roethlisberger a couple times?....I think our pass rush was decent
What? This thread isn't sunshine, sprinkles and rainbows about this team? Prepare to be merged heretic!
It might have been a one-score game, but we got beat pretty bad all-around.
And I'm not saying our defense doesn't deserve to be called out... it was bad. But look at it... I mean our secondary is disgustingly thin. It's about expectations... we all knew what was going to happen: A) we weren't going to get to the QB, as usual, and B) we were going to have pass-defense issues. And hey, both those were big problems. But in the end, we held them to 23 points... which (at least in my mind) should've been enough to win the game.
But on offense? Against a banged-up Steelers D AND with an extra week to prepare? That's just unacceptable.
time to bring back moss
... I mean Pittsburgh didn't punt until their last possession...

I've never undrstood why the posters on this board want to blame one unit or the other.
For as much as we rail on the D... the offense is responsible for both losses and the near loss in Dallas. We hold Pit to 23 (with a ridiculous time-of-possession deficit mind you) and just keep going 3-and-out and 3-and-out.
Yes the D was lacking still, I mean Pittsburgh didn't punt until their last possession... but we're used to this bend-don't-break style by now.
Like c'mon offense... Brady, O'Brien, and the rest of you... get it together. We're supposed to be a DOMINANT offense and we've sh*t the bed when it's counted on numerous occasions now.
When a team plays great man coverage and generates a pass rush up the middle, we have little to no chance of winning. There are 3 reasons why: 1) we don't have a clear #1 receiver that can stretch the field 2) No homerun threat at RB.
3) Our defense can not stop anyone. Our best chance of a stop is in the Red Area when we cant play 15 yards off the ball and the offense simply doesnt have the space. Overall talent on D is atrocious and seems to be getting worse each year.
The New England Patriots scored 31 points against the Buffalo Bills yet the offense is to blame? In addition, the New England Patriots were up 21-0 in the first half of the game. I didn't realize the New England Patriots offense needed to score on every possession for the team to win!In todays and Buffalo's game they are equally to blame.
+1. Spot on observation and analysis on both sides of the ball. When a team plays great man coverage and generates a pass rush up the middle, we have little to no chance of winning. There are 3 reasons why: 1) we don't have a clear #1 receiver that can stretch the field 2) No homerun threat at RB.
