That's it, right? That kinda makes me sad.

Not many coaches or FO guys left either.

I was a fan long before 2001, but that year resonates with me for obvious reasons.

Of the ones listed, Seymour's the only one left on defense.

How can that be 8 years ago but I'm still the same age? Something isn't adding up.

And by my rough count there's 11 left from last championship team (2004). 12 if you count Watson who was on IR.

That's why free agency sucks. Makes you wish for the old days when the only way players moved was via trade. But other than Vinatieri, who else from that team is still playing elsewhere? Was Woody with us then?

Yeah, Woody was drafted in 1999. He was on the '01 and '03 SB teams then went for the $ with Lions

YES! He was one of the only good players on the team that year! :D

But you're right, things change fast nowadays in the NATIONAL football league.

Yes, those are the only five remaining guys.

What may surprise you even more is that there are only 9 players left from the 2003 team. Just add Koppen, Warren, Banta-Cain, and Green to that list.

And if you look at 2004, there are only 13 players left. Add Alexander, Wilfork, Watson, and Yates to that list.

Bruschi, Vrabel and Harrison all in the same offseason... definitely a funny feeling to it.

Bruschi was definitely the only player on the roster to play in all 4 BB superbowls as well as Superbowl XXXI right?

What would be more depressing is if we kept a bunch of those 2001 guys around past their prime and did not evolve. That my friends would be depressing.

Well, this has to be the most depressing post i've read on this forum.

And to whoever said keeping these guys past their prime would be depressing, I actually disagree. The 2001 season was special to me, and honestly, and perhaps it's just after seeing Bruschi's press conference, I'd rather keep that memory closer to me and sacrifice a little talent by keeping these guys on a little longer than they really should.

That opinion will certainly ware off after a few days ;)

Exactly, this will wear off. Ask 49er fans if they were sad that the 81 team was different from the 89 team, let alone the 94 team. Everyone thinks of Jerry Rice; he wasn't even on the first championship team. The true dynasties evolve, replace old players with new ones. I personally love how each team is unique, and each season brings new challenges. Rodney, Tedy and Vrabel will never be forgotten by Patriots fans. Hopefully this is the year that Meriweather, Mayo and AD stamp themselves permanently into the part of our memory banks reserved for the days after a Super Bowl trophy is hoisted.
