Hillary Clinton has said repeatedly that she will not continue as Secretary of State....Word is that Susan Rice will be appointed to replace her.

John Kerry has also been mentioned as a possible candidate.

Personally, I think Obama ought to think totally outside the box and appoint John Hunstman.

He's bright, he's knowledgable, he's experienced, he's worked with Obama before and it would show a true committment to bipartisanship on behalf of both Dems and Republicans.

I also think he's the most qualified person for the job.

The Globe had an article on Kerry, saying his father was a diplomat in Europe in the early Cold War years, Kerry is fluent in Portuguese, French, and Italian; the Russians have indicated they can work with him; plus Kerry is well known around the world for he traveled extensively as a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He'd be an excellent choice.

Does that mean another special election and possibly another Scott Brown bid?

    Colin Powell is my guess.

Deval Patrick picks the replacement, but you'd bet your nipples Brown would run in the next election.

My hope is that someone with extensive knowledge in this area would be the best choice.. so in no particular order Susan Rice or John Huntsman. The latter would be an interesting choice, and may pay long term dividends..

He can bring back his old friend Jane Fonda and give her a cushy job and big pension.
