Candidate A. Candidate A doesn't smoke, drink, is monogamous and is early to bed early to rise.

Candidate B. Candidate B Smokes heavily,(cigars)stays up all hours of the night drinking, he's also a womanizer.

Who would you vote for and why?

Candidate A but this sounds like a trick question. On the few character issues you you've supplied, candidate A gets the nod

Why don't you provide some details of their policy views.

So, it must be candidate A... because it is a mirror image of him.

Off the top of my head, candidate A is Hitler, who was also a vegetarian, and candidate B was Churchill. And not Ward Churchill either.

The thing about a question like this there is simply nowhere near enough information to provide an answer. If all other things are equal then yes, of course I vote for Candidate A. But what if A is Richard Nixon and B is Winston Churchill..? (Or something to that effect).

If Hitler was monogamous... how did he end up with an STD? Could be his ho I guess.

I think if you are alright with a morally corrupt person versus a moral person then that just speaks to who you are.

Do you really want a morally corrupt person with his finger right near a nuclear bomb?

I think the point that people are missing is that our individual votes are a choice. For some people, infidelity matters, whereas for others it does not. Some might like a person who believes in God, while others run from them. Color, sex, gender, drinking, drugs, looks, positions, family, record, etc. all mean different things to different voters. Some people might vote for someone who's had misgivings in their past, but won't tolerate those same misgivings when committed in the present. Others might not care either way. It's all a matter of individual choice.

I wish I had thought it out more before I posted it. It was a rush job and I figured if I put the issues in it would be to easy to guess.

OK A says he can pull the country out of a deep recesion/depression prop up the currancy, and creat jobs.

B says hes going to end the war.

I respect you're right concerning you're personal beliefs. If its you're belief that a morrally corropt person shouldn't hold office fine. Integrity is a virtue sorely lacking in our society today. And you have it.
Now I enjoy reading you're posts, especially the foot ball related ones. But if tomorrow I found out that you cheated on you're wife,or were a flaming homosexual that wouldn't change my opinion of what you have written or would write in the future. If I found out that you were throwing you're kids down the stairs, beating them sensless,or kicking you're pegnant wife in the stomach my opinion of you would change drastically. I don't view things as black or white, theres different degrees of morality in my mind.
Just because someone "cheated" on their wife like FDR did doesn't disqualify them from being an effective leader. FDR knew about the A-Bomb he approved it and kept it so secret even his V.P didn't know.

My belief is that I would rather have someone ( FDR,Churchill,or Jefferson) thats imperfect personally, but thats a good leader for the country and its people. Than a person that has an unblemished personal life but is incompatent in their job in public service. It affects more people.

BINGO WE HAVE BINGO, I didn't want to put down that hitler was a vegitarian, and that Churchill was a depressive. I figured it wouldn't be to long before someone knew. I just wish I had planned it out more, and disguised the candidates better.

I agree that we do not want an incompetent person in office. It is just ashame that we can't find one person with both morals and competence of the millions of citizens we have.

I personally think there is a 1% chance of this happening since politics usually corrupts people and makes them resort to the dirty tactics of their opponents.

We could. Hell, I'm moral and competent. You sound as though you'd be.

The problem is that the "best and brightest" (hate that phrase) refuse to run for president (or most other offices) because of the media anal exam. Why should someone competent go through that when they can just have a quiet life making money or whatever?

Some of the people who'd be best qualified to be president could never be elected either, they'd wind up offending everyone. Imagine Donald Trump running for president, for example.
