The Pats traded out of the first round entirely?

Let's say, for the sake of argument, they get 40 and 60 from the Dolphins, and 44 and 75 from the Falcons.

That would give the Pats five first-day picks: 40, 44, 60, 75, and 91, but none in round 1.

Who would you take with those five picks, especially given all the potential values available in those rounds?

[BTW--I realize the numbers might not work perfectly; a trade for a day 2 pick in 2007 or 2008 might be needed to balance it out.]

Without knowing who's on the board at that time, I'm looking at David Harris, Josh Wilson, Josh Gattis, Ben Grubbs, and Ikaika Alama-Francis.

I have the following in my 2nd round draft board:
This is my board as it pertains to the Pats.
Some of these guys will more than likely be gone by then.
By the way I have them in order and whoever is a left at the top of my board is who I would take.

40 - Eric Weddle/S

44 - David Harris/LB

60 - Brian Leonard/RB

75 - Eric Wright/CB

91 - James Marten/OT

40 - D. Harris

44 - E. Weddle

60 - T. Jackson

75 - Z. DeOssie

91 - S. Piscitelli

I wouldn't be so eager to trade out of #24 because there's a pretty good chance a true 1st round talent that fits the Pats system will slip to that slot. I very much doubt there will be any true 1st rounders left by #28 and I'd be happy to trade down from that slot.

40 - Brandon Meriweather

44 - Marcus McCauley

60 - LaMarr Woodley

75 - Ikaika Alama-Francis

91 - John Wendling

I'd have a bit of trouble limiting it to 5, but if we could get 5 of these 10:

Eric Weddle
Josh Gattis
Brian Leonard
Brian Robison
Stewart Bradley
Zak DeOssie
John Wendling
Sabby Piscitelli
Daymeion Hughes
Josh Wilson

I would be a very happy Patriot fan. :D

Nice list. The trouble with trading down to the second is I start getting very greedy. Woodley, Alama-Francis, Hunt, Moore, Wade, Free, Gonzalez, Smith, Hill, Allison, Taylor, Davis...lot's to like in the second and third rounds.

In the second,

Meriweather
Bradley
Harris
Bush
Wade

In the third
AJ Davis
Gattis
Robison
Wendling

I think all of those "in the third" guys would probably be available in the 4th.

Robison, DeOssie, Wendling, Piscitelli and Hughes would be available after round 3. DeOssie probably in round 5.

40- OG Justin Blalock

44- ILB David Harris

60- CB Josh Wilson

75- OLB Stewart Bradley

91- SS Sabby Piscatelli
