By that time, cloning technology will have advanced to the point where we can bring Vince Lombardi back from the dead, and of course, the Patriots would be his first choice for a team crafted in his mold.

Of course, with Lombardi as an active coach they'd have to rename the Super Bowl Trophy.

The "Belichick Trophy" has a nice sound to it, don't you think?

You say this jokingly, but think about it . . .

(1) The Globe article on Vrabel pointed out that he does dead-on impersonations of Belichick.

(2) He has a relationship with Belichick unlike that of any other player.

(3) He's widely reputed to be one of the most intelligent Patriots, if not the most intelligent, and certainly one of the brighter bulbs in the entire NFL.

(4) He's said he wants to be a coach someday, and most analysts think he'd be able to handle it.

(5) Three of his rivals for the throne have already left for other pastures. . . .

Personally, I think this is all part of Vrabel's master plan to become HC when Belichick retires. ;)

You're not off the mark here. Take it to the bank, -BB's coaching tree will be the most far-reaching in NFL history by far! Comes from being a smart, confident individual who surrounds himself with equally smart, and confident players and coaches! Not to mention a fully supportive owner! :)
