And would you vote for him/her?

We’re going to close the unproductive tax loopholes that allow some of the truly wealthy to avoid paying their fair share. In theory, some of those loopholes were understandable, but in practice they sometimes made it possible for millionaires to pay nothing, while a bus driver was paying ten percent of his salary, and that’s crazy. [...] Do you think the millionaire ought to pay more in taxes than the bus driver or less?

I believe it was the guy who lowered the highest marginal tax rate from 70% to 28%, no he would do what Obama is doing. He replaced a guy who was a 1 term, president and wrecked the economy like Obama is doing.

Yea the same guy who raised our taxes 4 times, dealt with the Iranians before he was even elected, exponentially increased defense spending and started the great deficits..

He was so wonderful the Republicans hated him, until he started to chase butterrflies..

I don't think you'll get much of an argument from people when it comes to closing loopholes. Where you get an argument from people, like me, is when you want to simply raise rates, or add "surcharges" as some are looking to propose now. We don't need higher rates. Just clean up the loopholes.

I shows how bereft the left is for ideas when they try to copy the Tea Party and try to say Reagan supports their ideas. :singing::p

Shows us again, 13 - since I cannot make heads or tails out of what you tried to shows me in this tortured sentence:

and I am unsure what you mean by bereft.

A little less :singing::p and a little more puncuation might go a long way.

Well Mrs it means the left doesn't have any ideas of their own because of the electorial tidal wave they are facing next year due to the utter failure of the Obama administration they are flopping around to try to find something to run on. Demonizing the 'rich' (who they are busy raising funds from at 35k+ per plate fundraisers) is what they have since they can't run on Obama's record.

So we see pathetic attempts to create a left wing Tea Party (which the left spent the past 2 years mocking) and to invoke Reagan to support their tax programs.

    Pretty sad.

The only "idea" the right has had in the past decade is to decrease taxes. :singing:

The Bush tax cuts certainly worked some magic.

You forgot enforcing existing immigration reforms, cutting wasteful spending and curtailing excessive regulations.

Funny about the Bush tax cuts he inherited a country in recession then 9-11, as a result of the tax cuts the economy grew and tax revenues increased, unemployment went down and the deficit was declining ( down to 160b the last year the pubs controlled congress with unemployment under 5% which would look awfully good right now).

This in spite of stupid spending by the pubs such as no child left behind the Medicare drug benefit and so on.

Conservatives and pubs aren't the same thing BTW.

I must have forgotten since they don't actually do any of that.

    No, he didn't.

and he left the economy in a mess -- something you conveniently leave out

I didn't mention conservatives or pubs BTW

But generally it's a distinction without a difference.

No one said that Reagan supported my ideas.. never liked the man then, and do not like him now..

You might want to consider a course in logic in the future, as you make no sense.. in this day and age he would be considered something left of a RINO..

And the "I" word would have been circulating, what saved Reagan was the absence of the Blogosphere.. if he were prez today he would have been toast, imagine the bandwith that would have been used up on Iran Contra alone..

    Meet RINO Reagan:
    1.Reagan tripled the national debt
    2.Reagan raised taxes 11 times
3.Reagan expanded the size of government
4.Reagan supported the "socialist" Earned Income Tax Credit
5.Reagan negotiated with terrorists in Tehran
6.Reagan sought to eliminate nuclear weapons
7.Reagan gave amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants
    8.Reagan approved protectionist trade barriers
9.Reagan signed abortion rights law in California
10.Reagan eventually debunked AIDS myths Republicans continued to perpetuate
11.Reagan appointed Sandra Day O'Connor to the Supreme Court.

Let's try to glom to Reagan after all he was successful and our guy obama is a cluster f, yeah that the ticket.

Trying to twist the facts will work with the 20 something crowd that was indiapers, but not with the folks that were adults.

But keep spinning, it is good for a laugh.

I'm tempted to put folks on ignore who keep repeating this Reagan nonsense. It's inaccurate and continually derails conversation like a someone thinking that if they say it loud and often enough it somehow makes all their other points valid.

INOW you cannot contest any of the 11 aforementioned allegations, and someone else is spinning??????

The reality is that in this day and age, with the blogosphere Reagan would have been impeached...

Ignore may be a viable option, but you will never know both sides of the story...

If you can demonstrate time travel, then you can set your "reality" in motion. Until then, it's still false.

So you cannot contest any of the aforementioned facts.. but for some reason Reagan has become a hero of the right, based on a few soundbytes, but little action.

Ignore is a good thing.. as there is no ability to refute the facts..

They should have named them all after The Great Ronald Reagan, instead of The White Mt's they should have been renamed The Ronald Reagan Mt's.

Nope. George Bush and John McLame were supporters of Amnesty, while the former poured napalm on spending.

    Yes, he did.

Does that mean that liberal vs Democrat is also a dinstinction without a difference? I certainly wouldn't say so. I think the vast majority of liberals are democrats, but I hardly think most/all Democrats are liberals.

More. The current tax code is corrosive of "equality before the law" and is the main reason for "K-street" (Lobbyist Row) in D.C. is because loopholes, exemptions, deductions, etc. are a perfect way to reward your friends. Close those up and K-street will become a ghost town (well, assuming we also eliminate corporate welfare).
