I am just now catching up as I was at a family function which was not optional (thank goodness for the NFL app for Verizon!).

Anyway, checking out the list of who is still out there, here are a few interesting names at various positions of assumed need:

OLB/DE:
Sapp
Wooten
Griffen

DE:
Wooten (some have him as a strict DE)
Woods

RB:
McKnight
Dwyer

WR:
Mike Williams
Gilyard

TE:
Hernandez
Pitta
****erson

Obviously all of the punters are still there too...

Pass rusher, punter, true RDE prospect, although that's probably in reverse order of importance.

I'd be psyched about Ricky Sapp.

i want Wootton or Woods, Dwyer or Blount, Gilyard or Easley, and a punter...anything else is gravy

Bruce Campbell, Mike Johnson and Joe McKnight (any one will do)

Pass rusher, punter, true RDE prospect, although that's probably in reverse order of importance.

I'd be psyched about Ricky Sapp.

I want Sapp as well and a RB unless we are keeping the over the hill gang.
Any solid OL is always a good pick.

Everson Griffen. What are the chances they trade up to the beginning of the 4th to get him?

Everson Griffen or Ricky Sapp would be cool. Also, how about Dwyer or Joe McKnight? Dwyer was projected above Matthews a few months ago and even without any football being played he has been in a free fall. McKnight has been compared to Reggie bush with his speed and agility. Our RBs are getting old, I hope we draft one.

I'd be psyched about Ricky Sapp.

Also, it shouldn't be hard to find an RB with a good chance of beating out BJGE.

Sapp, Wooten, or McKnight

Freddie Barnes in the 7th, who had 155 receptions last year. Yes, that is no misprint, 155 receptions in a college season. Not fast, but velcro hands, and with Taylor Price is the WR MAC attack (Ohio, Bowling Green)

My running tally fwiw, with my preferences in bold...

OLB: Griffen, Lane, Sapp
I didn't like Griffen higher, but at this point I'd gladly take him. A 4th-round pick is worth trying to light a fire under all that talent.

DE: Wootton, Woods, Jones
I have to wonder if Wootton's knee just didn't check out to have him still hanging around in the 4th.

WR: Gilyard, Easley, Webb
Polished Gilyard would be the perfect complement to the athletic but raw Price

RB: Anthony Dixon, Karim
Very different styles, wouldn't mind both.

TE/HB: Hernandez, Pitta, ****erson, Harbor
Lots of TE value left, I'd be fine with h-back Harbor late

QB: Kafka, LeFevour
There's room for one, and it's no longer too early.

C: Tennant, Larsen

P: Bowden, Mesko
Please? Pretty please?

NT: Cam Thomas

Matt Tennant C
Tony Pike / Levi Brown QB
Adrian Tracy OLB
Al Woods DT/DE
IR Players :
Jason Fox OT
Danario Alexander WR
Adam Ulatowski G

C/G Matt Tennant, B.C.
RT Kyle Calloway, Iowa
OT Jason Fox, Miami
WR/ST Jacoby Ford, Clemson
OLB A.J. Edds, Iowa
OLB Eric Norwood, S.C.
DE Brandon Deaderick, Alabama
DE Doug Worthington, Ohio State
RB Anthony Dixon, Mississippi State
RB Jonathan Dwyer, Georgia Tech
CB Walter Mcfadden, Auburn

I think we are on the way to an incredible draft.
I think its critical that when we get to this part of the talent pool, and also recognize that we have a pretty full roster, that we use the next couple of picks on positions that are most likely to have roster openings.
It looks to me like this:
QB- Great chance to make the team as we only have 2
RB- We have a deep veteran group that may be hard to crack especially since we kept one extra last year and all are returing
WR- Depending on Welkers status (pup, or inactive at the start) there may not be room for a 4th or 5th to make the squad with Moss, Holt, Edelman, Tate and Price not to mention a couple of special teamers who can fill in if needed.
TE- I guess we need 1 more, but he would be buried
OL- T, no C/G surely would have a chance to compete and beat out a Connolly or Wendell
DL- With Warren, Wilfork, Wright, Lewis, Pryor, Brace there may not be an easy spot here to earn, but Pryor was a 6 so its hard to argue a 4th or 5th couldnt take his job or cause us to keep 7.
OLB- Yes there is room only TBC and Cunningham are untouchable.
ILB- There seems to be no room here.
CB- Also seems to be little room here
S- Yes a S drafted in the 4th or later could make the team on special teams ability but would likely be buried on the depth chart.

Looks to me like OLB, OL, TE, QB (altough both TE and QB could come in the 6th or 7th) S look like the most sensible positions to target and get the most likely impact.

I would like to see another 3-4 DE, RB , and punter.

Some names:
Arthur Jones Syracuse DT
James Starks Buffalo RB
Lonyae Miller Fresno State RB
Brent Bowden Virginia Tech P

Is Charles Scott still out there?

To avoid the potential for jinxes, all I'll say is I want a certain player whose name contains a 'Z'. :snob:
