Their o-line is the MVP, they made Murray look like a god, they making Ezekiel look like the next LT...I have to be honest I am a big jealous of their O-line and wish we had that here, if we had that o-line Blount would have been the leading rusher in this league.

Are they all first round picks?

Elliott is a very talented RB regardless. Behind that OL, he only looks better. Jerry Jones is drafting that OL... with help from his scouts of course.

I'm now wondering if Tony was the only guy in that team that held the cowboys back all these years.

Don't give them too much credit. They should be good when they are made of multiple 1st round picks and Zach Martin was maybe the easiest guy to spot predraft.

Are they all first round picks?
Tyron Smith - 1st round, 9th pick
Zack Martin - 1st round, 16th pick
Travis Fredrick - 1st round, 31st pick
Doug Free - 4th round, 122nd pick
La'el Collins - Undrafted (with an asterisk)

How was a guy who in his last healthy season threw for nearly 70% and 34 TDs to 9 INTs while leading the league in passer rating holding the team back? Romo's been a good QB for them. Yes, he has his faults that sometimes cost games, but so do most other QBs out there.

With a huge asterisk. Collins should have been a first round pick too.

Yes, Collins would've been picked in the first round if not for that thing with the police. He was the top-ranked offensive lineman in that draft I think.

Ronald Leary who's starting in place of Collins after he was placed on IR went undrafted because of a knee condition.

The Pats could have that kind of talent, too, but would have to suck for three years to get it. And no defensive first rounders over that period of time.

Belichick usually doesn't draft offensive linemen in the first round. Looking at the picks since 2000:

2000: Adrian Klemm (2nd), Greg Randall (4th)
2001: Matt Light (2nd), Kenyatta Jones (4th)
2003: Dan Koppen (5th)
2005: Logan Mankins (1st), Nick Kaczur (3rd)
2006: Ryan O'Callaghan (5th)
2007: Clint Oldenburg (5th), Corey Hilliard (7th), Mike Elgin (7th)
2009: Sebastian Vollmer (2nd), Rich Ohrnberger (4th), George Bussey (5th), Jake Ingram (6th)
2010: Thomas Welch (6th)
2011: Nate Solder (1st), Marcus Cannon (5th)
2014: Bryan Stork (4th), Cameron Fleming (4th), Jon Halapio (6th)
2015: Tre' Jackson (4th), Shaq Mason (4th)
2016: Joe Thuney (3rd), Ted Karras (6th)

How would an O line like this fit into the economic structure of the New England Patriots?? They are all due to get "paid"...

Who would you sacrifice??

Historically, Light, Mankins and Solder all received top deals from the team. Even Vollmer and Koppen received decent deals for their roles.

They will spend on the OL if it's warranted. If it isn't, they wont.

Bill would rather draft the talent on the defensive side of the ball. His draft history tell us this.

Good point, but can the Cowboys afford to sign these guys when it is time to "pay" them?? The Pats always seem to have a healthy mix of rookies and lower salaried players to not destroy the economics of the Patriots..

Solder is the #11 highest paid LT in the NFL
Volmer is the #13 RT in the NFL.. last year of his contract.
David Andrews is #55 Center in the NFL

Elliot is running thru holes untouched and gets all the credit as a great running back. Sort of reminds me of the days of Emmitt Smith. He usually ran untouched the first 10 yds.

Their defense didn't do them any favors.

Dallas and the Patriots are philosophically different in that regard.

Not sure when their contracts are up.

Seems to me if/when they hit the open market they will fetch a top 10 deal.

IMHO it speaks to the greatness of Brady. Once Jerry Jones got a good QB in Romo, he spent a tremendous amount of draft capital on the OL. In contrast, BB uses very little draft capital on the OL (only 3 picks in the last 10 years in the first three rounds) and he can get away with it because of the greatness of Brady (Scar also deserves credit of course). BB can primarily draft on defense to keep the defense good and Brady automatically makes the offense great, a recipe that has led to the most successful football team or its era, and it isn't close.

It is interesting that the only other team that is even close to this philosophy (counting on the QB to compensate for the OL) is Carolina, but even in their case in the last decade they spent six draft picks in the first three rounds on OL compared to three for the Pats. On the surface, I thought that Seattle might be another example, but they have in reality spent three #1 picks, a #2 and a #3 in the last six years alone on OL. Seattle has devoted draft capital to its OL, they just have done a lousy job of drafting.

Great question. While you're at it, we need someone to create a thread titled, "Who is drafting the Steelers Wide Receiver Corps?"

Blount behind a great o line that lets him get his head of steam on almost every play would be a sight to behold. But, he'd probably never behave in a place like Dallas.
