    #12 Jersey

Assuming Moss signs and Welker remains #3 WR and Donte is gone it appears unless a drafted rookie WR shows something special it will be down to Gaffney and Jackson for the #2 spot alongside Moss

Who do you prefer as #2 and obviously the other WR at #4 depth?

Chad Jackson with Jabar Gaffney as insurance.

I have the exact opposite opinion. Jabar is proven, Chad is not.

That's exactly why Gaffney is the insurance, IMO. He's proven, but Chad Jackson's potential upside dwarfs what Gaffney can give you. Until we see it on the field, having Gaffney on the roster is necessary.

That's why Gaffney/Jackson is a great combination to have...reliability & awesome potential, respectively.

I am hoping Chad Jackson, but only because he is worthy of being our #2 WR. I don't want him to be our #2 WR just because no one is better. Besides, Welker is our #2 WR as far as I am concerned.

    #61 Jersey

Chad Jackson just better grow up and step up this year, that's all I can say.

Odd that a guy with 110+ receptions in 2007 not be considered the team's #2WR in 2008, but I'll play along ... ;)

I said Chad Jackson, simply because that would mean in the coaches' eyes he has developed into an NFL starting WR.

Gaffney I'd be fine with, but to what you'd prefer, not sure how everyone wouldn't prefer to see CJax develop into the #2.

Also, I think Stallworth should be part of this poll, as that is who I would actually want.

Chad Jackson, Moss and Welker with Gaffney as the #3 or rotation #2 with Chad will be unstoppable. Assuming Gaffney signs and "hoping" Randy signs, I can see BB using a Jackson/Gaffney rotation until 1 takes it away from the other.

Chad will be given every opportunity to show us his stuff and i'm hoping he can take advantage of it and grab the #2 next to Randy.

I see no reason at all to go into the season counting on a guy who caught 0 passes last year as a starter or in any major role for that matter.

    #12 Jersey

Stallworth is not on the poll because I give him a 5% chance of returning to New England with the only real way being no one pays him enough to satisfy his financial expectations and can't outbid New England which IMO this team really does not think he is crucial to this offense anyway since he was a near no show many games of 2007 with Welker far outshining him.

Stallworth's contributions to the 2007 Patriots was good but not up to expectations as a #2 receiver would earn.

    My choice is: Someone else.

    But that's not an option.

Well, #3 receiver sounds awfully negative, implying that he is not better than the #2, which I guess sometimes is true, but certianly not in the Pats case.

With Moss and Welker, and taking the cap and other team needs into consideration, as well as Stallworth's role as the season wore on, a Gaffney/Jackson platoon should be just fine.

Has there ever been a player who produced so little been as popular with fans as Chad Jackson?

    Disable Jersey

Chad's popularity, or lack thereof, is a pretty direct result of two lost seasons. If he comes back strong this year, the love will follow.

I'm not a member of the fan club, nor do I hate the guy; however, when given the choice of who I want to see emerge as the Pats #2 WR, why would I not be pulling for a physically-gifted former 2nd round pick going into his third year?

Probably because people root for him because they realize the kind of potential he has?

I have yet to see Chad Jackson accelerate in a game like his forty time suggests he should...he has bad hands, lousy footwork, runs terrible routes and is injury prone in his early 20's....yeah, let's all bang the Chad Jackson drum

Jackson has bad hands? Really? Is that why he won the hands contest at the combine? Because he has bad hands?

I wouldn't call him injury prone, either. Couple of freak injuries does not an injury-prone player make.

As for the lousy footwork and terrible routes... what basis do you have to believe this is the case?
