Without having this come too close to a religious issue and not a political one all I have to say is that Jesus will be here with us whether you cover his name up with black plywood or not - Nothing can stop his immense presence at Georgetown or anywhere so why try? - They will all fail.

Good for Obama, we are are a secular nation and the President shouldn't be endorsing a specific religion.

And if you don't want your superstitions challenged then please don't tell me that your imaginary friend will "be here with us" whether we cover it up or not.

If he offended by Cathlocis he shouldn't speak there. Georgetown should have disinvited him when the offensive request was made.

I don't disagree with that, but they didn't.

What have previous presidents done when they spoke at a secular college? Someone somewhere along the line must have been of a different religion that the college he was addressing:confused: Nd has a tradition of having presidents as speakers and I'm sure they weren't all Catholic.

Everything this president does is a major, major production filled with controversy. It's like a soap opera.

This administration's so in your face it's almost surreal. One more time: this is the most devisive and polarizing president ever in the history of this country; not just about one main and urgent topic but on almost every topic. Everything's a huge drama, everything. It's a disturbing pattern, much like his choices for various posts. Such a strange journey :)

A million more times won't make that statement less farcical. You do realize it was Lincoln's election that led to the south seceding, right?

wow the first black president is also the "most polarizing" mostly for reasons related to his heritage and name, who would have thunk it.

You don't think everything this president does or has done so far hasn't caused controversy within almost every faction. Name me one without any controversy.

Why did you bring race into it? I personally don't know anybody who's ever mentioned his race, including myself. Why did you bring it up?

Maybe a more interesting question is what is controversy, exactly?

I didn't accuse you of bringing up his race, I'm just point out that most of the polarization that differentiates him from other Democratic candidates is his name, the color of his skin and where his family is from. That's to be expected and not any fault of Obama's.

I think any president at this point in time is going to be polarizing. Trying to assign blame to Obama for that is fallacious.

I'm not assigning blame, though I agree it's a controversial time. I just wondered what other presidents did when they were engaged to speak somewhere that may not have reflected their particular views? Assuming it's happened before, why is this time such a big deal?

Thats what they do when things start getting hot for Prince Barry, they'll always have that to fall back on.
