Aiken is the special team captain and a lock.
    =================================
    I have it as
Lewis (the perfect #4 and a solid special teamer)
    Galloway (the experienced speed guy)
Edelman or Nunn (both are returners) My choice is Edelman.

I like Aiken as an occasional receiver and YAC guy. Definite Lock.

I have a wonder about whether Galloway is better on a one-year lease than someone who is already very good and has a chance to develop well.

One trick in these projections is we can't map player's assumed trajectories between practice/study/playing the way the insiders do. Probably the main reason for the surprises that happen every year.

For what it's worth, Christopher Price and his partner were raving about Nunn this morning on WEEI, labelling him the surprise of training camp.

    Raving about Nunn today?

Check the PFW blogs, they were raving about him 6 weeks ago. Talk about being late to the party.

    #24 Jersey

I'd hate to lose Nunn or Edelman. Jeez, remember 2000 when we had less than the max on the roster for a while because they couldn't find enough NFL worthy players.

Edelman has to be a lock at this point - in the first preseason game, he played with the 1's, and played well. He was with the 1's at the practice I was at. He's clearly above Greg Lewis in the depth chart when it comes to the #2 slot guy.

I expect Edelman to make it and Nunn to go to the p.s. My "surprise" would be Nunn making it and Lewis getting cut. Aiken's going nowhere but the 45 game-day active list.

    #24 Jersey

The problem is, would they be claimed on waivers. I realize players usually do make it to the P.S. but with all the Belichickians around the league, you have to assume our high end cuts are gone.

    Disable Jersey

I really haven't been able to get a feel for the wideouts this camp. I think that probably stems from my inherent lack of positive feeling towards Lewis from even before he joined the team. I've never been impressed with him, and I thought the trade was a bad one.

As a result, I haven't really been able to wrap my hands around a list. The closest I can figure is probably completely unfair to Lewis, but here it is:

    1.) Moss
    2.) Welker
    3.) Galloway
    4.) Edelman
    5.) Aiken
    6.) Nunn
    7.) Lewis

In the slotting between Lewis and Nunn, I put Nunn higher due to his rookie status. I figure that, at that point of the roster, his potential gives him the edge. Also, I would expect Nunn to pass Aiken at some point during the season if my top 6 made the roster.

I know Galloway will be fine once he knows the system and doesn't have to think as much. But, am I the only one that would keep Nunn over Lewis?

Lewis just looks uncoordinated to me. Almost like he is clumsy

Agree with Aiken being on the roster. Nunn hopefully can mkae it to the PS. Tate will end up on IR and will IMO be a factor next year. I can see Gallloway being gone next year and LEwis too based on the development of Nunn and what Tate shows.

Tate Edleman & Nunn may the core group of the future.

Should be interesting. My gut tells me that BB will keep Nunn. The kid never gives up on poor throws directed in coverage. He is an active receiver and does his best to make a qb look better than he really is. I think Lewis is toast. He is a passive player who isn't familiar with the playbook and has been an invisible man for much of his career. If a pass is slightly underthrown he makes no physical adjustment toward the ball---it seems like he expects every pass to be thrown in between the numbers. I hope Edelman makes the roster. He could be a very dangerous slot receiver for the underneath passing routes---he may be a very good kick returner for the Pats in the future. I am a bit disappointed in Galloway, because I thought he would instantly come in here and make us forget Stallworth and Gaffney were even here. Galloway looks slower than advertised and confused out there--he hasn't show me much about whether or not he can still play in the NFL. Aiken has had an interesting preseason. He is deceptively athletic and has surprised me with some impressive catches. I am on the Aiken bandwagon.

honestly, i see the locks as being Moss, Welker, Aiken, Edelman...

the problem here is, that two of those are slot guys (welker, edelman) and one is mostly for depth (aiken) which leaves one of the wing WR positions open.....

which is why i see us keeping galloway, hes the second best wide WR on the roster

so it comes down to either greg or nunn....and personally i would take nunn

My mind is all over the place with the receivers.

I agree Moss, Welker, and Aiken are locks (not necessarily for the same reasons). Lewis I've never been convinced by, but training camp reports were generally positive about him. Galloway is clearly not on the same page, and suspect he'll be given plenty of time to get it right. Throw in Nunn, who has looked great in both training camp, and in games, and Edelman, who has been seen as a lock since game 1.

My 6 would be: Moss, Welker, Galloway, Aiken, Edelman, Nunn.

The 6 I expect: Moss, Welker, Galloway, Lewis, Aiken, Edelman.

I want to see Nunn with some extended play with Brady at QB. I think the kid is a player. Looks the part more than Lewis.

I'd like to see : Moss, Welker, Galloway, Edelman, Nunn, Aiken....
Greg Lewis does not impress me at all.. in the the skins game he had issues getting on the same page as Brady...he just is kindof forgettable.
I would HATE to see Nunn let go..I realize that he hasn't played 1st team D's yet..but from what we have seen of him...he can catch like crazy.

Lewis suffers from the #17 jersey number syndrome which makes you play below average.

Chad Jackson was the original and has now passed the torch

Don't be surprised to see Galloway cut. BB is in wide receiver heaven this year, and Galloway hasn't shown much. There's a possibility Edelman could end up on IR too. He was dinged up, a good enough excuse to stash him away for next year.

That would be a great way to stunt Edelman's development as a player.

It's hard to call. Galloway got a lot of work early on as the 2nd or 3rd guy in, but didn't impress much. Lewis has been doing mop-up duty, but looked okay last night and blocks well. But Nunn, Aiken, and Edelman have all looked good.

There's always a chance BB keeps seven. Slim, but not impossible.

I don't think Edelman is banged up enough to throw him to IR for the season. But who knows what's really going on with him OR Welker.

I think Belichick might keep the young guys, and choose between Lewis and Galloway. And I think he might prefer Lewis, who relies less on speed than Galloway. If Galloway's out of gas, he's useless to the team because he can't play a downfield stretch-the-D role.

I'm gonna say Moss, Welker, Lewis, Nunn, Edelman, Aiken.

I find your opinions to be the most puzzling of anyones on this forum. I am not putting you down or name calling you,I have no personal gripe with you or anything. It just seems like everytime I read something I disagree with I look up and see your name. Fascinating.

Anywho , Any one that watched that game last night and didnt "pop some stitches in their britches" over Nunns performance boggles my mind. I aint aching to cut Aiken, but I'll have none of cutting Nunn.

Galloway would be a tough cut. I am not convinced that Galloway can run the routes to fit into the Pats system, so I wouldn't be shocked.

Rotoworld had something up about how Feeley would be packaged with Reggie Brown. I wonder if the Pats would make a deal that would involve Brown and possibly cut Galloway.

(not saying that Brown is better than Galloway or anything, just throwing that out there)

I hear what you are saying... but BB's reference to not knowing if Lewis and McGowan are playing for a spot on the roster kinda made me double-take. I can't believe an NFL head coach would lie to the media... would they... ???
