off season is boring, so...

Let's assume fauria is gone... Watson and Graham are 1 and 2...
If we drafted a TE, which would you prefer, as the patriots #3 TE?

(rated on a scale of 1 to 5; with 1 being the best)

Player A: receiving: 1 blocking: 5 (great receiver, poor blocker)
Player B: receiving: 5 blocking: 1 (poor receiver, great blocker)
Player C: receiving: 3 blocking: 3 (ok receiver, ok blocker)

Where's D, the next Grahambo Ben Kickingbutt? There are at least 4 possible matches for D - Vernon Davis, Leonard Pope, Joe(?) Klopfenstein, Dominique Byrd.

This is a rigged poll, I demand a recount!

I knew someone would ask for D...

D would cost us too high a draft pick. TE will be a 4 or lower

I voted for the great receiver because I wouldn't mind seeing us pick up David Thomas in the later rounds. I've watched that guy for four years at UT and he simply has great hands. I've seen him catch countless passes falling on his side or snagging them off his shoelaces. And even when it was very obvious that he was Vince Young's favorite target, he always seemed to get open.

Not that he's a terrible blocker though. He's just not Daniel Graham in that department.

Can't let yourself get off on a wrong foot like that. Think of the off-season as ... foreplay. Not as exciting as the much shorter main event ... but affording considerable satisfaction in its own right - when handled properly.

Where were we then?

Ah yes ... tight ends.

Very interesting question ... especially with the stipulation (correctly, i think) that the new one is a 4th rounder or lower.

The Pats' OL is so close to Really Good ... that i presume we become Very Good either thru the draft or simply the secular improvement of the guys already here. That is, if we don't draft OL high, then BB thinks we don't need to do that. In either case, he wants a butt-kickin OL as much as we do.

Therefore, this new TE's blocking skills are not especially required ... as they were required in '05 and previous years. So i vote for a catcher who can't block.

Further, i imagine that Dante Scarnecchia can teach a rook more about blocking ... than he can about how to get open and hang onto a pass. (Still, there's always the requirement that the new TE at least be willing to put his magnificent frame into harm's way - even if he does still lack technique.)

Most athletic TE in the draft. In case Graham and Watson can't play at certain times like last year, I want a weapon, instead of someone like Fauria.

ok numb nuts... we all want a third string weapon.... the basic question was, FOR OUR THIRD TE WOULD YOU PREFER A BLOCKER OR A RECEIVER.

Eccentric big spender that I am, I would be very happy with Davis or Pope in round 1, Klopfenstein or Byrd in round 2, Fasano or Day in round 3. Fauria started a number of games for us and Graham wasn't close to 100% at the end of the year. If you want to wait for second day, I like Dockerty (Wisconsin-Oshkosh) who was an excellent blocker in the Hula Bowl - I loved the hit he put on DT Gerald Anderson of Georgia. But I expect to take a day one TE with Graham UFA in 2007 and Fauria AARP any day now.

stupid question

Somebody kick your dog today? P|ss in your Wheaties? Take away your pacifier? Didja just quit Smoking? (I did today, that's why I ask) Wife cheat on you with the paperboy?

Damn man.

Look into Anger Management classes, or maybe Yoga. Maybe chilling out with some glaucoma remedy or trying some Stuart Smalley action in the mirror, y'know, "I'm smart, I'm clever, I know my football, and gosh-darnit people like me. I don't need to lash out at fellow Pats fan like Paymetons Manning lashes out at his offensive line."

Shoot, try something. All that anger just impedes bloodflow which makes your little guy turtle-up, which will make you even more angry, and before you know it... BOOM ... you're watching Mike Ditka commercials for Levitra with rapt attention.

Try a smile. It does actually feel good.
