My contract is up with Sprint, so I'm free to pick any phone, plan, or provider of my liking. I've narrowed it down to two choices, but I can't decide. The two phones are the HTC Evo, and the Samsung Epic (also known as the Galaxy or Fascinate). So, what say you?

This video does a side by side comparison of each, and their features.

I'd like the Epic better if it didn't have the keyboard. Swype is better!

Normally, I would vote for "none of the above, go with the iPhone", but that's not an option. Personally, I like the Evo better... but only for aesthetic value. I have a BlackBerry myself.

My wife has an iPhone, and a saleswoman from AT&T let me demo one last week. It's nice, but having spent an hour with both of the one's I listed above, the iPhone is a distant 3rd. Great phone, but can't do the things that the Epic and Evo can. The Evo is it's own Wi-Fi hotspot, does video calls, live streaming video to the web, etc. It's a sick phone. The Epic has that amolded screen though, that basically looks like my hi-def Samsung I got hooked up in my living room. I was playing a free racing game on it, when I checked it out, and it looked like my PS3. Unreal picture quality. I just dislike the keyboard. It's nice to have (it's got a touch screen keyboard too), but it makes the phone feel a little flimsy. I have to go check them out again. Really impressive phones. If you'e ever around a Sprint store, stop in and mess with them for a few minutes. You'll see what I'm talking about.

My BlackBerry is on Sprint. One day I'll get around to going in there and seeing what it would take to trade up to the Evo.

I have the Droid Incredible which is basically the EVO and I love it. It's very easy to use with one hand which is my criteria for good phone use. I can't offer any comparison experience ... the Snapdragon processor does hum along quite well.
