We played plenty to our free agents. If Samuel were a free agent, would we have been willing to sign him for $7.9M for one year?

In any case, we have used a lot of cap space on rent-a-players.

SAMUEL $7.9M

MOSS $3.0M

STALLWORTH $3.6M plus patriots get an option

MORRIS $2.5M (this is a long-term deal, but it is pretty level)

BRADY $2.65M (two-year contract)

WELKER $3.5M (this is a long-term deal, but it is pretty level)

THOMAS $7.1M per year ($12M payable this year and $9M payable next)

I did not include WASHINGTON since his 2007 contract, if we keep him, will be less than $1M plus incentives. The patriots would retain an option to sign him in $2.5M a year range.

You forgot Adalius Thomas. 7 million a year.

Morris' deal is a 4 year, $7 million deal. Or about 1.75 million a year.

Washington's deal is 660K this year, but then it spikes up if they keep him beyond.

I dunno if Morris is worth it... or even Brady, but hey; I'm not Belichick.

oops! I consider Thomas so part of the team and its future that I forgot that he just joined the team. I edited.

I spread Morris' bonus over three years. He amy or may not play for the last three years.

I thought we did exactly that? His contract with the Pats was up,making him a free agent, but we gave him 7.9 mil for one year.

Morris is averaging 1.5 or so per year. thats nothing now a days

I was commenting on the original thread's price evaluations actually. They said that he was going to make over 2 and a half... or something like that.

I'm not saying that Morris isn't good, just not worth the 2.5m price.

If he does average 1.5m, it isn't that bad...

:) That is my point. Most people don't view it us signing a free agent corner to a one year deal for $8M.

Kind of too early to ask this question,Would you not say?

Maybe around week 6 we would have a better idea of what value these guys are worth,Right now - on paper they all look good.

Sorry, obviously not one of my more observant days.
